Day 85 of Reading the Bible in 90 Days

Morning; and with just 5 days to go this is going to be a great last five days; not only have we read the book thoroughly; we've read it with understanding completely. And I didn't say this in the beginning because I didn't think it would go as successfully as it has; but this is the way you should have been reading this blog as you read the scripture. I've outlined each chapter; so after you've read each chapter on your own in the bible; you should have then glanced over the notes I had set out in the chapter to make sure your eyes caught some of the messages we tend to over look at times. Okay; okay; let's go.

Hebrews 1

1God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

People usually do not give Paul credit for writing the book of Hebrews because the tonality is different. I do not think it is much different, except that the writer of Hebrews appeared to be writing to an audience that were a bit more knowledgeable of what he was dealing with according to culture and nationality. So if I'm writing to a Mexican audience about their history and events that they do and should be doing; I don't have to be as technical and explanatory as if I were writing a German audience about the Mexican history and events.

Paul tells the Jews, Hebrews that in the past the Lord spoke to us through prophets, as Jesus eloquently mentions in the parable of the Vineyard; but in these last days (and last days include when Jesus was on the earth), the Lord is speaking to us through His Son. His Son is the heir of all things and His Son made the worlds (not sure if you caught the plurality of world). His Son is higher than the angels; so He is definitely higher than Moses. Paul is trying to drill this into the minds of some hardcore Hebrews who did not want to deal with Jesus.

7And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
8But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

God never spoke to any angel about ruling but He did make His angels spirits and flaming fires. If the angels are spirits; then it is safe to say they are holy spirits if they did not follow Satan correct? But God gave the Son the throne forever.

Quoting the book of Psalms a great deal in this chapter because he is speaking of Jesus; and Jesus let us know that the book of Psalm and Moses and the Prophets are all written about Him.

14Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

The angels are all ministering spirits; they are serving spirits and are sent to serve them who will be heirs of salvation. They are sent to serve us and make sure we can receive salvation; like your minister of your church is; a minister is a server, government although they rule; they are to minister to the public. So it is safe to say the angels in this case are Holy Spirits sent to minister to us the word of God to guide us into truth.

Hebrews 2

5For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak. We should be warned Paul says because God never gave the world to come into subjection to the angels; this is probably why many of them rebelled; thinking they were going to get promoted to having their own world; only to find out they were going to minister to a pile of dirt made in the image of God. We need not to resist the Holy Spirit.

Jesus came and humbled Himself to death and began a better High Priest to us because He was like one of us. I think a coach who played the level of sport he or she is coaching will be a better coach than one who only watched. I have a friend who would be an excellent collegiate coach; because not only did she play in college in the Michigan area; she also sat the bench much of her time to really learn to analyze and view the game (yeah it was a nice little shot at her). The Lord played the entire game, touched every line, and used no performance enhancers. So now He has become an excellent High Priest for us to follow suit.

Hebrews chapter 3

1Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

Now while Paul has not done his customary greeting to the Hebrews; we see he calls them holy brethren; these are his brothers and he is drilling Jesus to them; even letting us know that Jesus was more faithful with His house than Moses; and Moses was very faithful.

Warning Against Unbelief (v7-11)

12Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Jesus cut many off from getting into the land of the promise that came out of Egypt and it was all based on unbelief. Jesus did not heal many people in His home town and it was all based on unbelief.

Hebrews 4

The Sabbath Day of Rest for God's People
1Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

The same word being preached to us today was preached to the children of Israel who came out of Egypt; but it did not profit them because it was not mixed with faith when they heard it. The Lord swore to them that did not believe, that they would not enter into His rest. I thought the Lord already rested in Genesis? No; He outlined His plan in chapter one and proceeded to accomplish it; He told us the end of the story from the beginning so that we can see it and believe. That rest; is the thousand year millennium period (because a thousand years is one day to the Lord) and that one day is the actual Sabbath day, the seventh day of man being created and on the earth.

8For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. 9There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

Jesus hasn't given anyone rest yet; that means this day is still in the coming; we will get a day of rest during the thousand years of peace on the earth in Jesus Kingdom. This is why remembering the Sabbath day is so important because it symbolizes the actual 7th day of the creation of man. Every day you remember the Sabbath day as commanded; you are remembering the Lord returning and setting in order the earth. When you ignore the seventh day of the week, the Sabbath day, and rather deal with the first day of the week, Sunday, you are ignoring the big work that Jesus is going to do and you are full of the same unbelief that the children of Israel had in the wilderness!
When the abomination of desolation that Jesus warned us of; or the man of sin as Paul called him, steps into power, he will cause many to ignore the Sabbath day. This will get many people in trouble.

11Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Did you see this? To work and labor to get into the Sabbath day of rest; unless you fall down after the same unbelief the people before you fell to.

Hebrews 5

All high priest were ordained for men to do the work of God to sacrifice for sins as Aaron was. Christ was also set up by the Father to be high priest but not after the order or administration of Aaron. 6As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Jesus was made High Priest after the order of Melchizedek that we read of in Genesis and touched on in the Psalm. This is a subject not for milk drinkers but for meat eaters, metaphorically speaking. This is an area that needs total understanding.

Hebrews 6

Paul request the Hebrews to stick with the foundation of repentance and not waver back and forth. It is impossible for you to sit at the Lord's table, eat His good word, tasting the heavenly gift of the word and knowing all the powers of the world to come; only to fall away because you were deceived or stiff necked. What you have done when you attempt to come back is put Jesus back on the cross to die for you again. Do you think that is possible for Jesus to die for you over and over? I tell you and so does Paul, it is not!

Hebrews 7

1For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
2To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
3Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Melchizedek was the king of Salem and priest of the most high God, so great a king that Abraham, the father to the Hebrews, paid a ten percent tithe. Melchizedek was the King of Peace; who bares that type of title? He had no father or mother, no descent, no beginning of days, nor an end of life, and was made like the Son of God a priest continuing daily.

Anyone without a mother or father and with no beginning of days and does not die is God and not man. This is Jesus! Many do not like to admit this nor come to the truth of the matter; but you have to read the facts and conclude with what you have. He and Jesus bare the same title, High Priest, so they must be one in the same because there aren't two High Priest at a time and both continue forever.

Concerning the Priesthood

The Levitical priesthood was loaned to them by God; but it is and always will be Melchizedek's priesthood because we see Jesus was made High Priest after Melchizedek and not Aaron. Also there had to be a change in law because the priest hood was never to be done by a Jew; but by Levi. But for the sake of Jesus, who is to be a King and Priest, is from the tribe of Judah and not Levi; but abides as a priest forever.

28For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

Hebrews 8

1Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; We are speaking of JESUS; He is in His Father's name right now; but this is the same High Priest of God that met Abraham with one of His many names He wore, this one being Melchizedek.

Jesus the High Priest of the New Covenant

7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
8For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

If the children of Israel didn't break the first covenant; there would not have been need of the second. The Lord finding fault with them made a new covenant and we read it in Jeremiah (as that is where Paul is quoting from). He wrote all the same laws of the first covenant into the second covenant and wrote them in our minds. As soon as we want to break a commandment; your mind says, thou shall not.

The reason we know everyone knows the commandments is because when a man commits adultery and the husband walks in on it; he is ready to defend himself with a fight. He doesn't get up and say, "hey man come on in, shut the door there is a draft. Come help me make your wife feel good!" He gets up and sneaks out the window or gets into an altercation with the husband.

Same thing when people are stealing. Man comes home and sees the robber; the robber does walk out calmly saying "this TV is excellent; it'll be at my house from now on." If he does say that it is because he has a gun pointed at the owners head.

We know when we are doing wrong because God has set it up in our heart and minds, His laws. That is why so many people when they tell their stories of how bad they are, I here them say like it is a joke, "I'm going to hell." They know what they are doing is wrong because the laws are instilled in our mind.

Hebrews Chapter 9

Paul tells how the Levitical priesthood was much carnal; a description of what is to come and what we needed to do to sacrifice for sins. However, Jesus did all of that and it wasn't made by hands.

24For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
27And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
28So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

The earthly tabernacle is not to be compared to the heavenly tabernacle; just as the blood of bulls and goats, not compare to the blood of Christ.

Hebrews 10

1For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

The law of animal sacrifice had a shadow of good things to comes; but it could never make anyone perfect. The reason why it cannot make anyone or thing perfect is because of who was dying and who was sinning. 4For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. The animal did not sin; so it was vain for it to die; but it showed us what happens when you sin; something must die. Ultimately, man must die since man sinned; and for this Jesus made Himself a man and died for the sins of the people.

How can one man's dying for the people save the people? Well one man's sin killed the people; so the Lord is equal in that He didn't require ten men to die for sins; neither did he require both a man and woman; just one man to recover what one man did.

10By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Now this means there are no more remission of sins and no more offering for sin. You cannot keep doing the same things over and over. That is why it makes absolutely no sense to say that Jesus died and the nailed the law to the cross. What that is saying is that God gave laws, we broke them, he came and paid out bail or fees/wages, and now we can break the laws all day long.

This does not make sense in mans realm. I can stick up any bank now because the laws are no more. "The government knew those laws were to hard to keep, so now I'm free. I'm going to sleep with First Lady Michelle Obama, I will steal, kill, lie to to get to the top, because the law is no more."

Sounds foolish to me. If the worldly governments will laugh at that; certainly know the Lord is laughing at that thought process too.

26For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

Willful sinning was never forgiven and after you receive knowledge of the truth if you sin willfully after this; all you have to look forward to is the lake of fire. I'm not trying to scare people as I did not write Hebrews nor did I write the gospels that quoted Jesus many references to the lake of fire; I writing what they wrote so that it is clear and you and I can be filled with understanding.
Obey God because 31It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews 11

1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Here is the chapter on faith; we get the definition of faith and we see the elders obtained a good report; they did not receive the promises yet.

5By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Even Enoch is not God; he was just transformed to what Adam and all of us would have transformed to be, immortal humans. This was done because he pleased God. He is not in heaven; he is right here on the earth and he is not God with all power, he is just a man that has become immortal and cannot die. He got this great gift by having faith.

6But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
13These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

You cannot please God if you do not have faith in Him and seek Him diligently. All these with faith followed it up with works. Noah believed the Lord would flood the earth; and went and built an ark to show he believed. But Noah died without receiving the promises; this means he is not in heaven.
39And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

40God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect. With all this great faith they had; they will not be made perfect without us. Perfect is to be God.

Hebrews 12

6For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

We must look unto Jesus who is the author of our faith. We must endure as He did, resisting evil, and taking the chastening of the Lord. Every caring father rebukes his son when they do bad; so we are to understand that the Lord will correct us for bad behavior. We should receive it gladly knowing that our Father cares about us to correct us.

Are You a Bastard?

7If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Those that do not receive chastisement from the Lord are not His; thus you are bastards and not sons and daughters. We have to stay ready; keep the word so we can walk boldly into the Lord's kingdom.

28Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
29For our God is a consuming fire.

Hebrews 13

8Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Paul ends the book with wise words and exhortations; have brotherly love, entertain strangers as some in the past thought they entertained strangers but were entertaining angels and they did not know they were angels.
Remember that marriage is an honorable thing no matter what the married couple tells you. Remember that Jesus Christ was the same when He took the children of Israel out of Egypt and stoned a man for picking up sticks on the Sabbath day, He is the same today, and forever.

23Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.
24Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. 25Grace be with you all. Amen.

The book didn't sound like Paul; but we can see at the end he left his keys that it was him.

James 1

1James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.

The reason why Gentiles really enjoy Paul's teaching is because they think Paul is more lenient. However, Paul stresses throughout all his writing that he has no kingdom nor hell to send you. He himself is scared to death in where he will be placed. Others like James; and Peter, there tone is much different; straight to the commandments and that sounds harsh to the Gentiles. James addresses the tribes scattered throughout the world.

2My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
When you are going through trials and temptations; it is a good time to lean on the Lord for help and strength.

Ask and you will receive; but ask with confidence and boldness; not wavering. If you are not sure when you ask; the Lord is viewing you as not confident you want or can handle all that comes with what you want. You may just want the glits and glamour of it; but some hard work comes with it as well (v5-8).

12Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
13Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Pretty straight forward.

19Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
20For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. Solomon told us this; and Jesus also, James is cosigning what has been said throughout the generations.

22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
James teaches to read the bible and do what it says. Do not be one who can quote the bible up and down; actually do what the commandments teach. We do not look in the mirror and forget what we look like as soon as we walk away do we? So we are not to read the bible and forget what it says to do. The Pharisees deceived themselves in preaching the law; but not doing them. That is why Jesus termed them hypocrites.

James 2

1My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. All over the book it says not to be partial in your judgment. Don't favor someone because they look like you; but judge by their character; or by their fruits. God is not a respect of persons so we are not to be either.

7Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? What name is this; a child of God; but a child of God is a spiritual Israelite. Israel is the name.

8If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. Keeping the commandments is to love your neighbor as you love yourself.

14What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? Can it? You are stranded sitting on the side of the road; and you have faith that God will help. Three men come by and offer help, you ignore. Finally one like the son of man comes and commands you get into the car and you refuse; your faith is in vain because you do not want to show any works.

19Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. It is not enough to just believe; you must believe and do. Satan believes; but he did not believe in doing what the Lord wanted him to do; and has thus help get the world in the shape it is now. But he knows Jesus better than anyone alive today!

22Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
26For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. That is clear as crystal.

James 3

Controlling the Tongue

5Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

We must learn to control what we say. Fights and wars are started by what is said; and they can be ended based on what we say.

Our salvation can hang in the balance based on our tongues. We have to be careful of idol words as well. How can we use the same mouth to curse someone; then bring that same mouth to bless the Lord and thank Him for all the goodness he has shown to us? We cannot; it's like a tree bearing two different types of fruit or a fountain giving sweet and bitter water. The mouth has to be controlled.

This finishes our reading today; I praise God for you joining me; in the name of Jesus. Amen

Only 5 more days to go.
