Day 41 in the Book of Psalms

We are going to jump right into the reading today on this the Lord's Sabbath Day; I thank God for bring us to this point and I pray quickly to the Father to open our understanding in the name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

Psalm 46 is where we will begin today!

The Lord will be exalted in the earth soon; but there is a quote in this chapter that my dad use to really mention a great deal.  "Be still and know that I am God."  When things look harsh don't panic, be still, calm down and know that God is God and that He can handle that situation easily.

A friend of mine is writing an excellent natural health book and he got real excited and panic in one moment when talking about finding a publisher and how to go about the publishing.  I told him not to worry about that, God will bring the answer to him as in Job, God communes with us in dreams, or through other men.  So he calmed down and continued to write.  He called me about 6 hours later to tell me a friend of his from high school called him and got him in touch with another friend who has been published and who's book is in book stores as we speak.

He talked with the friend and got easy answers on the publishing methods.  He called me praising God.  Be still and know that I am God; that is what God tells you.

Psalm 47

We are to clap our hands and shout with triumph; for we serve a terrible God, and a great King over all the earth.  Jesus is that terrible God and Great King.  As I mentioned earlier, it is not terrible as we humans use the word; it is because this same God, Jesus, will bless you beyond measure.  You'll wonder how you are being blessed so well and you'll wonder why.

Then if you sin against Him; Jesus can and will deal with you so bad; you can literally cry for days straight with no breaks.  That is terrible.  It's like the movie, Trading Places, with Eddie Murphy.

Jesus will subdue the people under Israel, and all the nations at the end of the day will have to follow the ways of the true nation of Israel.

7For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.

And this is the very reason why we are reading the Bible with understanding.  I met a young Korean girl once who told me she read the Bible 6 times through and it was a shame that she still haver very little understanding.  Uzza served the Lord with happiness, but with limited understanding; because if he understood the Lord well, he would have never touched the Ark of God knowing he was not a Levite.

Psalm 48

The Lord is great, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.  What city is this?  When the Bible speaks about going back to Zion; sometimes it is confusion that Zion is Heaven.  However, according to verse two below, that Zion is beautiful for all situations, it's the joy of the entire earth, and it is the city of the great King.  And this great King is not speaking of David, it is speaking of Jesus.

2Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

This great city with the great King is Jerusalem where Jesus will reign.  The confusion of going to heaven is somewhat decided upon here in verse two.  I thought this last verse was pretty important: 14For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.  God is the one who guides us; even into death.  We all know this but sometimes we take death as a negative thing.  At most it is only sad because the loved one was taken away from us; but if they were guided by God, even unto death, then we should praise the Lord.

Psalm 49

1Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
At times people believe the bible was written only for the Jewish people or for Israel, especially the Old Testament; but here we see that the author addressed the entire world, rich and poor.  Tell them that God is speaking wisdom to everyone, His mind is of understanding; listen to Him as He opens up His dark sayings (hard to understand scriptures).

This is what the Lord wants the entire world to understand that if you are rich and trust in your wealth, and boast yourself in the multitude of your riches (you know the MTV Cribs type of boasting); you may not have noticed that none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him.

No one, with all this money, can live forever on their own biologically.  Also, no matter how rich you are, it it impossible to pay God any money to bring back your soul or the soul of your deceased brother or mother or loved one.  So why boast about how much riches you have if you cannot do that little thing?  Why boast about how great a doctor you are if you cannot save every life?  Be humble my friends and allow God to lift you up.

10For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.  I've been on the earth a short while; and this is one thing I've seen everywhere; that all kinds of men die all kinds of deaths.  It does not matter how wealthy, poor, wise, foolish, or cool you are and everything thing you've worked for will be distributed to others when you die.  That is so wrong.  But we asked for it in the garden of Eden.

The last verse in this chapter is amazing - 20Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish. - Honorable men in the earth who do not have the understanding of God (as we are reading and learning) are no better than the animals that are on farms and in their houses as pets.  We are in a good place here.

God lets us know He is the judge of the people, here in Psalm 50, and He requires no sacrifices because all the animals are His anyway.  People of old liked to bring sacrifices to God like they were feeding the Lord.  But God says, "If I were hungry, I would not tell thee..."  He wouldn't tell you if He was hungry.  Just like you do not go to your 4 year old son and say, "gee I'm hungry son and you buy me a happy meal?"  No; you simple go and buy your food or fix your food because you are the father and the care taker.

22Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
23Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

This is Jesus speaking through the mind of David who wrote it.  Rarely do people ever think of Jesus as the God that will tear you into pieces.  This is why understanding is so important in your reading and learning from God.  Do not offer sacrifices of meat; offer praise and good conversation that keeps the Law, and then God will show you salvation.  In other words, OBEY!

Psalm 51 is a beautiful prayer asking to be cleaned by God through His Word so that we can share the greatness of God with understanding.

18Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness,

Then the Lord will do good to Zion, which is Jerusalem and they will build the walls of the city in peace.  Also we can give sacrifices of righteousness to God first, then offer animals.  But we must do right and be clean first; and the Word of God cleans us.

Psalm 52

No need to boast sinners because your days will be over soon and the saints of God will laugh at you because you did not put your trust in God.  8But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
9I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

Psalm 53

The fool has said in his mind, "There is no God."  People like this are corrupt and there is no good in them, no matter who it is. 2God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

When God was trying to see if there was a man clean enough to die for the people; He could not find one.  This chapter ends with us knowing that Israel, the entire nation, will be glad when their captivity is over because for one they will be back in the land with God.

Psalm 54 is a powerful prayer for protection.  You can certainly read this when you feel you need protection by God because of enemies rising up against you in any situation.

In Psalm 55 it is the similar prayer as in the previous chapter however, this speaks of Jesus situation of betrayl more.  God will put them to death who are against Him.  How do you make sure you are not against God?  You find out what His commandments are and you do them, you walk in them.

Psalm 56

4In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.  We are not to be fearful of man and what they can do to us.  Jesus told us in the gospels that we should fear God; not man who can only kill you and do nothing more than that.

11Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: let thy glory be above all the earth.  I've heard a popular song made out of this verse.  God is who our trust should lay with and we should cover ourselves under His wings as the opening verse says in Psalm 57.

Psalm 58 is a detailed prayers for evil to come upon them that have been wicked.  We know that we should pray for our enemies and hope no evil for our enemies; so I know this is the Lord praying this prayer to the Father.  I have run into people who were tired of the wicked not being punished; and the last verse gives us rest on this:

10The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
11So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

God will soon return to the earth and take harsh judgment on all unrighteous men and women.  That is the day to rejoice and the destruction of the evil.

Psalm 59 takes the same tone as 58.  Evil will be rooted out and since Psalm is a prophetic book, we know this is future when the destruction of evil will come; because that is at the return of the Lord.

Psalm 60

1O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.  This is certainly a prayer from an Israelite seeking the return of the Lord to bring them back into their land, which they have been scattered in other nations even until this day.

The writer did not want the help of man; for it is vain.  Instead he wanted His God; God is the only one who can redeem Israel and return them back to their resting place.

Psalm 61 is a draggy change of pace psalm but the last verse we know to be certain that we pay our vows as we read in Leviticus.  8So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.  If you make a vow; keep it.  Men and women, that includes marriage vows!  We need to be accountable and people of our word if we are to become like God.

Psalm 62

1Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.  5My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.  8Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.
10Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

Trust and wait on the Lord; this psalm was so beautiful I had to put all the wise words in.  Salvation comes from the Lord; then it is wise to wait on Him; trusting Him at all times.  Also if you get rich; do not do as in the popular song in the early 90s where you keep your mind on your money and your money is on your mind.

Be wealthy and enjoy your gain from the Lord; but distribute it to the less fortunate to and lend to the Lord.  12Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.  We are to live by faith; but God will render also according to our works as well.

Psalm 63, help from the Lord, trust in Him delivering you.

Psalm chapter 64

9And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.
10The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

There will be a day where all men will fear the Lord and declare His good because after some of the signs and wonders He shows, people will wisely consider it.  And from there will they trust in the Lord.

Psalm 65

1Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
2O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.  In Leviticus 23 we read about the feast of the Lord and in Deuteronomy 16 we read how all men shall appear before the Lord 3 times a year.  This is when all flesh will come to Jerusalem to appear before the Lord.  It is praise to wait patiently on the Lord.

Psalm 66

1Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:2Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
3Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

I watched the discovery channel, the travel channel, history channel, and some survivor shows and I see places on the earth that nothing can live there.  I see places where the weird insects that can kill a human with one bit.  And I said God is terribly awesome in His creations.  5Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.

He dried up the river, parted the sea, that's a great work, but He closed it up on the Egyptians attempting to cross after His people, that's a terrible work towards the children of men.

Psalm 67

1God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.  We want mercy from GOD so we need to pray for it continuously.  7God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.  When GOD again blesses Israel, all the ends of the earth will fear Him because the way Israel will be blessed is going to be news abroad.

Psalm 68

1Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.  4Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.

We do want God to arise now but with understanding we want Him to arise at His appointed time (which is close soon); and His enemies will be scattered and flee from Him.  In verse 4 we learn of another name that God went by.  In Exodus, Moses knew His name to be Jehovah.  We know in Genesis that He gave Jacob His name when He adopted him.  That name is Israel.  And here we get another name Jah.

Many will say there was no 'J' in the Hebrew language so this should be Yah, for Yahweh, which means the Eternal One.  However we will just go with what we read in verse four that is Jah.

God has done a lot of great things for Israel and for the earth that we all take for granted at times.

11The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
Even today when the Lord gives the Word; many people have gone forth and published it.  I'll publish this blog in a moment.

19Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

Praise God who loads us with benefits.  We are not speaking of benefits on our job either; but benefits such as having sight, hearing, mobility, air to breath, sun shining on us, water to drink, food to eat, and I can go on and on.  We are loaded with benefits.

21But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.  This sounds like Genesis 3 v15!

Psalm 69

This entire chapter is Jesus speaking to the Father; listen to the words written here and see the importance of reading the bible Old and New Testaments.

3I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
4They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

Weary of crying, His throat dry from crying that night before He was killed.  He really did not want to die; and He prayed and prayed waiting for God to deliver Him.

8I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.
9For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

Jesus became a stranger to his brothers and his mother's children.  His brothers were the children of Israel because Jesus came from the tribe of Judah.  And their zeal and want to follow God made them eat Jesus up like a platter of food in a hungry village.

12They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
This is how you get details on what was going on in Jerusalem in Jesus day; all kinds of people were talking against Him, "wine-o's" and drunkards made mocking songs about Him.

20Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
When they arrested Jesus, His disciples fled from Him and when He was being interrogated no one stepped up to come to His defense or speak up with Him.  Nobody took pity, He was truly all alone and by himself.

21They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
When Jesus was on the cross after He was beaten and thrashed; He asked for simply something to drink; and they gave Him vinegar and gall.  All this was prophesied before His time.

27Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.
28Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

Jesus began to pray against some of these evil doers, for the Father to add sin to their sin so they don't come to righteousness and be saved; because they knew better (the Pharisees) and the Romans who took part were foolish and didn't consider anything.

He prayed that they  be blotted out of the book of the living.  If that happens to anyone, they are going to die, even the second death.

How can someone do something like this to another innocent man and find so much pleasure in doing so.  That is why Jesus prayed against them.
32The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
33For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.

But He focused on serving the Father, and tells that the humble will one day see this and be glad, and those that seek God will live because the Lord hears the poor and He does not despise His prisoners.

35For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.
36The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

God will still save Jerusalem and rebuild all the cities in Judah and Samaria, all who serve Jesus will inherit it (this includes Gentiles, Hamites, and other Semitic groups who are not Israelites physically).  The bottom line is that if you love the name of Jesus to serve Him diligently, you will dwell in Jerusalem.

This concludes today's reading.  Thank you for joining today and I'll see you tomorrow.

Day 40 Bible Food - the Psalms

We're reading the Psalms today, from chapter 25 to 45.  These are prayers to the Lord mixed with a lot of prophesy, primarily concerning JESUS, and His future Kingdom and things that took place while He was on the earth some 2000 years ago.  Let's begin...

Psalm 25

1Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.
2O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. The common theme of the prayer asking the Lord to help; but more important is the trust that is put on the Lord.  You must trust God, trust His laws, His commandments, and everything.  If you do not know how to trust the Lord, ask Him to show you His ways, and lead you in His truth, which is His Word.

5Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

The Lord is merciful to those who keep His covenant; just as a parent is merciful to a child who messes up once in a while on accident.  But those who move on purpose to sin, no mercy is given.

14The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

This is indeed a secret to fear the Lord because you have to know how powerful Jesus is before you can fear Him to have wisdom enough to love and serve Him.  20O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
22Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Verse 20 speaks to us about putting your trust in the Lord; and verse twenty-two the writer ask the Lord to redeem Israel from all their troubles.  In David's day Israel had rarely any problems.  David subdued all His enemies if you remember, his problems were in his own house for his sin against the Lord.  So David knew about the troubles Israel would be in as a nation down the road.  Prophetic verse there...

Psalm 26

1Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.

Trusting in the Lord will make it very difficult to slide off course of His ways.

Psalm 27 is a prayer also in seeking comfort in God and in trusting Him.  One thing we should all desire of the LORD, to constantly seek after; is that we may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of our lives, and to see the beauty of the LORD, even going to ask Him of His ways in His Temple.  If that is granted to me; I'm very happy.

This chapter also tells that when our own dear parents forsake us, the Lord will then scoop us up; we must just wait on Him and not give up turning into vain persons.

7The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.

It is all over the book of Psalm, including Psalm 28 here, that the writer trust in the Lord.  Also we see in verse 8 that the Lord God is the saving strength of His anointed.  Jesus did not raise Himself from the dead; the Father raised Him so to show the people His power and if they do His will; they will get the same thing, eternal life at the end of the age.

In Psalm 29 we learn of the power in the Lord's voice, so we give praise unto His name.  10The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.  Flood or waters in the bible often represents peoples, so the Lord will sit as King forever over the people, over the people of the earth.

Psalm 30
4Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
5For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

The Lord loves singing and music; and you notice that when you're in a good mood you will catch yourself singing.  There is a reason for that; singing brings joy and inspires joyful times.  We can sing even in the tough times we live in because we know the Lord is angry with the harshness going on in the earth; but He is only angry for a moment, we must remember that He is in favor of life.  He wants that all should live happily for an eternity; so it may be rough now; but joy comes in the morning.

Psalm 31

1In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.  It is impossible to be ashamed when you put your trust in the God of Heaven and Earth.  6I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.  14But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.

Do not trust man; do not trust your belongings, and do not trust yourself.  We are only to trust in God.  That does not mean sit on your bed and trust that He will do everything for you.  Instead, read this Bible and trust that He will perform all that is in it.

Psalm 32

1Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.  If this happens for you, you know you will be in the Lord's kingdom.  So you must give mercy to others to attain mercy from God so that your sins are covered by the blood of Jesus.  As long as we confess our sins, and stop trying to hide them, we have a good chance at getting them covered.  Then you'd have to trust in the Lord to believe and do that.  10Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.

Psalm 33

Here goes the praising of God with music.  Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.  Sing unto the Lord a new song; played skilfully with a loud noise.  We can't just get anybody to sing unto the Lord, if you have a talented voice, then sing loud unto our God.

4For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

If the world of the Lord is right and done in truth, the Exodus chapter 20 is still right and is still truth to keep.  Let us know else, what is right and true; that by the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. He spoke it and we'll find out soon that someone or thing carried it out.  An architect would say let there be a two story building; and he will draw it out and the builders will go complete what the architect spoke by the breath of his mouth.

8Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.  9For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

The thoughts of the Lord's mind is in all generations; that means in every generation the Lord has someone who knows what He wants; just as we are reading and know what the Lord wants.

If you ever wonder why no violence or trouble comes around you and you fear the Lord, it is because an angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear God.  7The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them (Psalm 34).  It will also deliver you.  People say things like; his life was spared because of a guardian angel.  This is true, but it was not a relative who died that is watching over  you; it is an angel of the Lord staying with you.  You must fear God though and keep His Word.

22The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.  None that trust in the Lord will be lost or desolate.  That is very comforting to me; but you must trust in His Laws and His ways, and walk in them and He will do the rest.

In Psalm 35, Jesus prays to the Father for His servants to be spared from the wicked, and He also prays for the destruction of wicked persons.

Psalm 36

1The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.  It starts with not fearing God to not believing God exist until your wickedness is exceedingly harsh and God gets wind of it and has to take action against you.  Stop yourself if you ever stop fearing God and go into prayer to ask for mercy.

Psalm 37 I like this chapter because it can be hard to keep the Lord's commandments and struggle through life and then turn and watch a guy like Larry King marry 10 different wives or some rich guy swindle money from the poor and live successfully.  It can be something that turns into enviousness.  But God tells us through His Word not to be envious against sinners.  Soon enough they will be cut down to the ground like grass.

2For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.  Instead we are to continue to trust in the Lord and still do good in face of all the bad around us and let the Lord feed us until the perfect day.  The other day, I saw I could have stole a diamond out of a store and I was ready to do so; because I felt they are rich and I am poor, they get away with it; why can't I?

But you must put that type of thinking aside and continue to trust God and stay far from evil and breaking His commandments.

8Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
9For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
11But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Don't get angry or be a person of short temper, be wise and wait on the Lord and inherit the earth.  Won't it be good and fun to one day say, "hey, the earth is mines."  It will be if we follow the Lord until the end of the age.

16A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

You could have a studio apartment in a building with a community toilet and washroom and be righteous, and you have more than the riches of a man who owns 40 mansions, drives 40 cars, two jets, and owns an island.  Isn't that something?  I told you there is some really good stuff in this bible here.

25I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.  David in his life, young and old, never saw a righteous man forsaken and never saw his kids begging for food.  I have to say, I've never seen it either.  Someone will always take care of the righteous.

31The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.  Job said that the Word of God was more important than his necessary food; so how can the righteous who keeps the law of God in his mind ever go hungry?

Psalm 38 is a prayer not to be forsaken by the Lord.  Keep His commandments and you will not be forsaken, even if it looks like you are being forsaken as Jesus was on the cross when He shouted, "my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me."

In Psalm 39, the author asked to have his days measured so he knows when he is going to die.  Then realizes that the days of men on the earth is all together vanity.  It is almost pointless, especially if you do not serve God truthfully and with understanding.  Do not be filled with zeal and serve God wrong and die as Uzza did for touch the Ark of God.  Learn right and do it.

Psalm 40  You have family that mock you, they sin, they are always against you but you hold strong and keep in the Lord and trust Him.  4Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Blessed are you that trust in the Lord and don't turn to those people who are proud and that turn to lies such as the laws of God are no more.  That is not true so you have to read the bible for yourself to realize that is a false statement.

6Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

The Lord never wanted any animal to be sacrificed; all He ever wanted was for man, made in His image, to keep obey His voice and keep His Word.  Then Jesus came to be the sin offering Himself, written in the volume of this book, we have read about Him (Jesus Christ) throughout the Old Testament.

Psalm 41

1Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.  When you have time think about the poor and not just on how not to be one as one famous preacher use to say.  Consider them for the Lord will deliver you in trouble because He knows you have a heart concerned for your fellow brother who is less fortunate that yourself.  You may not be able to help the poor; but consider them and righteously pray for their help.

9Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.  This verse is just one of the many things that happened to Jesus when He was on the earth.  We know his familiar friend was Judas (Judah); who Jesus trusted and ate with, even dipping into his food with Jesus; but he turned against Jesus.  But read this chapter and you will see someone of the things the gospel writers didn't write.

Jesus wrote it in Psalms before it even happened and in detail.  All I can say is: 13Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

Psalm 42 & 43 is a prayer to God to earnestly wait on Him.  The author sought after God as a man deprived of drink seeks after water.  It is a need to have the Lord in our lives.

Psalm 44

1We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
4Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

David is writing that we know that the Lord took Israel out of Egypt and we know He knocked off the nations that were in the land of Canaan, so God is the King of Israel and it is He who will deliver Jacob.  We rarely hear people praising God for taking them out of Egypt.  I would hope the Jewish people were more vocal in their thankfulness to God for taking them out of Egypt; but I don't hear much on this.

11Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.  Wait a second here; when David wrote this he was settled in Jerusalem; what does he mean God has scattered them among the nations?  David was a king but he was also a prophet.  Jesus was speaking to him and David was busy writing.  12Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

The Lord did not even make profit on casting the Israelites away, He gave them away for nothing.  13Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
14Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
15My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
16For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

We can remember reading these curses in Deuteronomy chapter 28.  It did not happen in David's day but David sure knew it was coming down the road.
Search out and seek God diligently because He knows the secrets of our mind.  You know, the things you don't share with no one but yourself; He already knows it, so clean up what needs to be cleaned up in your mind.

Psalm 45

1My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.  Here is David the musician.  I've heard rap artist copy this verse in their songs.

However, this is a conversation between the two beings in the Godhead:
6Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
8All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

The Father is telling Jesus that His throne is forever, and because He loved righteousness and hated evil, "God, thy God," has anointed you with oil of gladness above your fellows.  So we see Jesus is higher than all the sons of men who will become God at the end of the age because of the great work He did in the earth.  And verse 8 lets us know that He will smell great doing it.

17I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

Notice the people of Israel, their name is gone among men, but the name of Jesus God allowed to be remembered throughout all generations.  Praise the Lord.

This concludes todays reading; I hope to see you tomorrow.

Job and Psalm on Day 39

Good morning and welcome to day 39 of our 90 day bible challenge that I call, Bible Food Daily.  To me, this has become more necessary than my physical foods I need daily.

Let us continue and we will begin in the last chapter of Job and go into Psalm chapter 24.

After the Lord asked Job some extremely difficult questions; Job realized that he is nothing and did not have any rights to ask the Lord why this has happened to him, and worse he certainly wasn't too righteous to have calamity come upon him.  So he responds to the Lord now:

Job 42

1Then Job answered the LORD, and said, 2I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee. 3Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.

Job admits that he has spoken without understanding nor knowledge things that were a wonder to him and that he knew not.  It's like people who speak without knowing a topic; eventually they run into someone who is an expert and they will be busted or humbled.  After you make errors like this you have to hate yourself; just as when you sin you hate yourself for your actions or thoughts.

6Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

Now as for Job's three friends; the Lord addressed them too telling them to apologize to Him by bringing a sacrifice and to have Job approve because they spoke erroneously of God and to Job.  At a time of grief, friends should be sympathetic and comforting, not pointing out or figuring out why one is going through their hardships.

The men did as the Lord commanded them.  Job prayed for his friends and the Lord turned the captivity of Job (as it was called) around and gave him double of all his possessions he had.  10And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: in other scriptures we've read where the Lord is going to bless Israel's end even better than their beginning with Moses, Samuel, David, Solomon, and they had it great in the beginning.  So when in your trials; remember to keep your eyes on the goal of being with God.

Job have seven more sons, and three beautiful daughters, in fact they were the most beautiful women in the land and were given inheritance along with their brothers.  Job lived another 140 years seeing his children down four generations.  Weather the storm and you will be fine with God.

We now move into the Psalms

Psalm 1

1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

These are a compilation of songs, poems, prayers, and prophesy written by David and Asaph (music chairman) and a few others.  It is a very important book in the bible; as Jesus even mentioned to read these thoroughly as they are written of Him.  A great deal of what David wrote, being a prototype of Jesus, it sounds like it is for David; however it is a dialogue between the Father and Jesus.

As we read we will see a lot of it.  It starts out with saying blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly.  Do not take advice or counsel from ungodly men, only delight in keeping the law of the Lord, day and night.  As the priest made sacrifice at even and in the morning; that is how we are to keep the law of the Lord near us.

The way of the righteous will stand; but the ways of the wicked will not in the day of Judgment.

Psalm 2

1Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
3Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

I'll quote a great deal in the Psalms because there are plenty of powerful scriptures such as the first three here.  The nations rage and people imagine things that are pointless and profitless.  The kings of the earth, you know the Obamas, Chavezs, Putins, etc. have all joined together against God (the Father) and His Anointed One (Jesus Christ (Christ meaning Anointed One)).  The kings of the earth want to break the bands and cast away the Lord's cords from them.

The cords are His laws, statues, and judgments.  Those cannot be cast away; but we see the world doing it when they through the 10 Commandments out of school and say you cannot pray while in public places.  However, God is laughing in the heavens at them because they do not know that the Father has given an inheritance to His Anointed (Jesus) who became His son to have all the nations on the earth.

Jesus will rule the earth very soon and He will rule with a very strict government; so some advice was given:

Be wise now kings of the earth, and serve God with fear and trembling, and kiss the Son of God because when He is angry just a little, people die in the bundles.  We all read and remember the flood in Noah's day.  Then we end with the theme in the Psalms, blessed are they that put their trust in Jesus.

Psalm 3

David asked how are his enemies increasing in number?  Easy, the more people that hate God will hate his servants; but salvation belongs to the LORD; and blessings is upon His people.

Psalm 4

1Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

These first verses in chapter four are pretty profound; in this prayer, the Lord asks men how long will they turn the Lord's glory to shame.  This is a shot at men and women who claim to be servants of God but in reality are shameful because they are hypocrites who shame God as His representatives.  Mainly because they love vanity and seek after leasing.

Vanity is nothing and leasing is what we are doing in the flesh.  We are leasing because we will die sooner or later; but when you own that is when you live forever.  To many people are happy with the life of renting and are not pursuing ownership at all.

5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

Saul wanted to offer animals that the Lord said to destroy; and Samuel had to tell him it is better to obey than to sacrifice.  However, if you are going to sacrifice, sacrifice righteousness and trust the Lord always.

Psalm 5

1Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.
2Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

David calls the One he is praying to here, my king (King Jesus), and my God.  Jesus is both king and God.  He just did not become God; He was God, became man, then went back to being God.  We'll see that clearly later on.  I just want to point out scriptures so we read with understanding.

7But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

When you see Muslims praying towards the east, and Jewish people praying at what is thought to be a Temple wall, and Christians with deep understanding praying towards Jerusalem (the east), they are praying towards the Lord's Holy Temple.  This is common; and did not begin with Solomon's prayer, but Solomon's prayer did add some zing to it.

11But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

They pray for wickedness to be uprooted; but those that trust in the Lord shall be joyfully happy.

Psalm chapter 6 is a prayer for healing and reference to the after life is made: 5For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

In death there is no remembering God and no one can give God thanks or praise in the grave.  That is opposite what is known about dying. If you went to heaven once you died you would be able to remember the Lord; and you would be giving Him plenty of thanks for allowing you to be with Him in heaven.  But the dead do not go to heaven; they remain in the grave until the return of the Lord.

Psalm 7

1O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:  If you have trust issues; settle it by putting ALL your trust in God.  Many people make up what they think God is in their mind; all loving never upset.  We have read what the Anointed One is going to do to the kings of the earth.  God has emotions just like His creation; the big difference is that He is in total control of them and He performs all things in righteousness.

11God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
God is angry with the wicked every day.  He does not take a break and say I'm going to be happy with the wicked today.  Every day He is angry with them.

Psalm 8

1O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
2Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

We've seen this verse quoted in the New Testament by Jesus Christ.
David was perplexed at this earth thing as I am and probably you are.  He asked, after seeing all the Lord has created, the moon, stars, planets, why is man important to Him, why does God even deal with sinful men?  Man was made lower than the angels yet God crowd him with glory and honor.  What for?

6Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

God made man to dominate all the things He created, and to rule and control it for Him.  That's why He is putting man through a strict obeying school and training to be able to operate the world He has created.  You may be in charge of a planet one day; so God needs to see you obeying Him so you can learn from Him.

In Psalm 9 we are reminded that the enemies of the Lord, the wicked of the earth will soon be removed and perish; but the LORD will endure for ever: he has prepared His throne for judgment.

10And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.  You must know His name; and we'll learn it soon (although we know it's Jesus), when we read it right from the Bible.  You must know His name and put your trust in Him and He never forsakes those that seek Him.

Psalm chapter 10

This chapter again is praying to God to deal with the wicked.  The wicked will not seek God; nor attempt to do His ways.  That's a problem when you have to live with men that don't believe thou shall not kill or steal.  Many wicked persons do not think God sees all of their wickedness, even in the night hours.  But God sees it all.  There are cameras in your head called eyes; and whatever you see; God sees.

Let us all be mindful of how we treat the fatherless and the widow.  The wicked looks to take advantage of them; but the Lord keeps an eye on how the fatherless and widow are treated.

Psalm 11

1In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?  Here we start off with the theme again of putting your trust in the Lord.  The Lord is watching from heaven; trying the righteous but the wicked the Lord hates.  If you are struggling a bit in life; stick with the Lord, He is trying you to see if you will weather it and remain with Him.

In Psalm 12 it is interesting to see that the Lord will stop all flattering lips.  They say flattery gets one no where; but it actually get people who use it everywhere.  And preachers use it a lot as well; flattering their congregation by telling them what they want to hear.  We tend to think that this was just in Bible times or in Israel.  No; things are the same and are happening now as well.

6The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.  This is how to avoid the flattery of men concerning the Word of God, by reading it as we are with understanding because it is pure words.  It is like silver tried in the furnace purified seven times; that is pure so you can trust in it; and not in flattery.

Psalm chapter 13

This is a Psalm prayer for help.  Lord help us before we sleep.  3Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.  Death is only a sleep; the Lord will wake you up again and judge you so prepare now so you can pass into the kingdom of God.  And again, if you are asleep in death, then you cannot be awake in heaven.

Psalm 14

1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.  This is a common scripture in the churches; and I agree with it whole heartedly.  You'd have to be a fool to think everything on earth just appeared and that there is no God or Creator of it all.  And according to this chapter, not too many people even seek God fully, He didn't see one.  That is why no one was clean enough to die for the sins of the people; and God had to do it Himself.

7Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

David wrote this before Assyria and Babylon took out the 10 tribes and Judah respectively.  That is why I said the Psalm is a book of prophesy, in that salvation of Israel were to come out of Zion.  He is wishing that Jesus (the salvation of Israel & the world) would come to Zion (Jerusalem) and bring back the captivity of His people Jacob, they will rejoice and be glad (remember Deuteronomy chapter 30).

Psalm 15 points out that only the righteous will abide with the Lord in His Holy hill or tabernacle.  Want to be in the Lord's kingdom; you must practice righteousness and avoid evil.

Psalm 16

Begins with putting our trust in God for Him to preserve us.  If you got after other gods (which do not exist), you will have your sorrows multiplied.  I don't know where yours are now; but I have a few and to have those multiplied will drive me insane.

The verses below are not speaking of David, but is Jesus speaking to the Father:
8I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

Jesus set the Lord before Him; that is all He focuses on, that is why His heart is glad knowing that His flesh will rest in hope of being raised from the dead.  We know that when Jesus died on the cross and was buried, His body did not remain in the ground to see corruption as other men do when they die.
Jesus rose from the grave the 3 day and night; so His body could not see corruption, but David is still dead till this day and waiting for the resurrection we are all waiting for when Jesus returns.

Psalm 17

This Psalm prays for protection and guidance continually, and spiritual strength to walk in God's ways.  However we learn that the wicked, if they will not serve the Lord the right way; He will use them as His sword, for violence.
13Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, which is thy sword:

Satan was the original light bringer; then iniquity was found in him; so as we read in Job he still shows up at the annual meetings the Lord has and his new job is to destroy.  If you are wicked, the Lord will send another wicked person to hurt you.

And if you are wicked, and love violence, you then will be a sword to the Lord.  That is why our jails are full; because wicked people beget violence.
Verse 14 comments to on the wicked who have more than their fair share in this life, they are full and have no needs, they have huge saving and monies in the bank and when they die they pass it on to all the children they have had.

But the righteous is not suppose to want to be like that, instead we are to seek the Lord so that when we die we are content to be resurrected being exactly like the Lord.  We want to be God as it was planned for us; not angels, but God.

It's like a boy who says, "when I'm a man, I want to be a doctor."  A man would then say, "when I'm a god, I want to be controller of the 5th universe."  And we will see God and behold His face when we are like Him.  Right now we are only in His image; but we are not like Him.

In Psalm 18, we read this exact Psalm in 2nd Samuel chapter 22.  David was extremely grateful to God for helping Him; but if we read this closer we will definitely see graphic depictions of Jesus talking to the Father.  In a conversation that took place when Jesus was on the cross (a conversation in His head).

As Jesus feared being killed by the Pharisees; the sorrows of death came on Him.  In His fear, He called on the Father: 6In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
7Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
8There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
9He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
10And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.
11He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

Jesus cry to the Father was heard and acted upon; the Father came off of the Throne in the third Heaven and came down to see about Jesus.  The earth shook and trembled, the foundations were moved because of the Father's anger.

Smoke went out of the Father's nostrils, showing extreme anger and He put darkness under His feet as He came down to the earth.  If you remember the story of Jesus death (we will read in a few days), when He died at noon, the earth was completely dark at that time, which is unheard of in science.  This is why; the Father came down to support Jesus in the painful mission He undertook.

Lightnings, thunders, and other tirades the Lord did to show the people they did kill the son of God.  It could be coincidence for nonbelievers, but for those who understand the Bible it is prophesy.  And keep in mind, this is all in the Old Testament.

Psalm 19

The law of the LORD is perfect, it converts the soul who trust in it.  The testimony of the LORD is sure, it makes the simple-minded very wise.
The law of the Lord is known as the Old Testament or the books of Moses; and the testimony is known as the New Testament of apostles testifying that the Old Testament is good.  So the law is perfect and the testimony sure; there is no reason for Christians not to believe the entire Bible.

In essence there should not really be a New Testament Christians, or an Old Testament Scholar according to verse seven in Psalm.  Furthermore, the statutes of the LORD are right, they make you rejoice inside; the commandment of the LORD is pure, it enlightens your eyes.

You all of the sudden realize you cannot just sleep with your neighbors wife because God will deal with you harshly.

The fear of the LORD is clean, it will endure forever.  It is sometimes frowned upon in some churches to fear the Lord; but it is a clean thing to do and it endures forever.  Also, the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.  So I ask, can things this good ever be done away with?
Verses 10 tells us that seeking these are far better than seeking gold and worldly riches.

I certainly concur with this.  14Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.  A famous verse quoted often.

Psalm 20

6Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

The Father will save His Christ; verse six wants us to know this and know this because Jesus rose from the dead.  7Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

Even today, some trust in their cars, their war weapons, but true servants of God trust in the name of the Lord God.

Psalm 21

1The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!
2Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

This is not speaking of king David; but it is speaking of Jesus the king.  Normally, people forget that Jesus is a king; and specifically will be the king of Israel.  That is why David is a prototype of Jesus (and a man after the Lord's own heart), because he was king over Israel in his days.

God has given Jesus all His heart's desires; the same was granted of king David as well.  So how are we sure this is referring to Jesus?  6For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.  The Lord made Jesus most blessed forever.  David was not and is not more blessed than Jesus.

Psalm 22 26The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.  These are self explanatory verses in chapter 22 here; that the meek will be satisfied and live forever.  Jesus told us in the sermon on the mount that the meek will inherit the earth.
27All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

28For the kingdom is the LORD's: and he is the governor among the nations.  The Lord is going to eventually return and govern the nations.  We will have a governor who is God and I am sure there will be no 'pay-to-play' in this government.  Verse 29 - no one can keep alive their own soul.  As I mentioned before, man in all his brilliance has not been able to produce a cure to live forever biologically.  And the Lord confirmed that in verse 29.

Psalm 23 is a very prophetic prayer, perhaps the most well known psalm in the Bible, verse one sums it up for me: 1The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.  If the Lord is your shepherd, you really should not have any wants because everything will be provided for you if you have faith in your shepherd.

Psalm 24

1The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.  I remember reading about a man who wanted to buy the earth.  I wondered who he would have to pay or buy it from.  It would be God; but how do you buy something that is not for sale?  The earth is the Lord's and everything in it... including the people.

Only the pure can come into the Lord's Temple and Kingdom; and the prophet asked who is the king of glory...

10Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.
It is Jesus!

This concludes today; thank you for joining us and see you tomorrow.
