Good morning here at 5:02 am we are half way through, so give God praise for that, and pat yourself on the back for being able to read the chapters required in this blessed challenge. Let us continue now.
Psalm 135 is where we will begin.
The author states a know fact in verse four: 4For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure. The Lord has done this because we read it in Exodus 19 days back. He picked a nation to educate and in turn they were suppose to educate all the other nations about how to serve Him.
The Lord does as He pleases, in case other nations are upset that He chose Israel to do this job. It was not because Israel was some great nation; but it is just as it happen. Their forefathers were great men who obeyed God.
Psalm 136
1O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. The Lord's mercy surely endures forever, especially towards Israel as the author writes. This is one nation that is living off of it's fathers good name.Psalm 137
1By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.7Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.
This song or psalm rather sings about the period of time when the children of Judah were being carried away captive by the Babylonians and the people who had insight of why they were being carried captive wept; and Babylon required they sing a song, one of the songs of Jerusalem while being led away. Israel asked how can we sing a song in this situation and in a strange land?
It reminds me of when the black slaves were brought into the Americas and were singing the old Negro spirituals, "swing low..."
However, in verse 7, they prayed to the Lord to remember what Esau, their brother did when they were being carried away. There are historical accounts that Edom assisted the Gentiles in removing all of the children of Israel out of the land so that they can take it over. I don't see how a brother can do this but that is how upset Esau was still about the birthright. If you remember in Ezra and Nehemiah's books when Cyrus allowed Jews to go back and build the temple, they had so much trouble with the Arabs and Edomites who had taken over large parts of the land. Israel asked the Lord to remember this.
The sad part of it all is that the Lord will repay bad behavior to any persons or nations involved.
Psalm chapter 138
6Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off. The Lord is great and greatly to be praise. Although we are just dust and are like John the Baptist said, not worthy to untie the Lord's shoes, He has respect to the lowly people of the earth but those who boast and are proud, He has nothing to do with.
Psalm 139 a praising psalm to the Lord God; it speaks volumes. We notice at the end that Jesus made a statement to the Father here: 21Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? 22I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies. Man cannot do anything perfect; the only one who can is God. And He hates (yes God can hate, He created it right?), with a perfect hatred when anyone provokes it to Him. This is why God is called the great and terrible God; wonderful is He and praise His name.
Psalm chapter 140, we read a more protective prayerful psalm to the Lord. With so much evil in the earth today we must pray for guidance and God's protection from evil.
Psalm chapter 141, is very similar to 140. With so much prayer to God for help, it is a wonder that many men are so boastful and without God. Jesus inspired the psalmist to put together many of these psalms and David was a trusted servant of God. He fought and won many battles because He trusted on God. We should take this same approach and consult God in everything we do in order to get that David, King of Israel guidance. 8But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
Psalm chapter 142
7Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me. How many of you are in prison as you read this? If you are just thinking about the county prison or state prison, think again. This prison is the prison of sin; the breaking of God commandments. We are to pray hard everyday for God to bring our souls out of the prison Satan has bound us in.
Psalm chapter 143, in the first three verses ask yourself, did David really have that much affliction where as we read? He did not struggle that bad as some of these psalm portray. That is how we know it was prophetic writing and Jesus speaking through the mouth of David and other psalmist who wrote.
10Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
11Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.
This is something people rarely make mention of; to ask God to teach them His will. If they sincerely did, God would send them His Word. However, many people only ask to be more spiritual, and what does that exactly mean? We need to be quickened or made alive in the Word so that we can learn and understand.
Psalm chapter 144 is a powerful prayer I recommend praying out weekly if not daily. The question was asked again, "LORD, what is man, that you take knowledge of him; or the son of man, that you make account of him? Man is like a vain thing; his days are as a shadow that passes away. We are born, we live, we struggle, and then we die. How vain is that? However, we have the ability to latch on to the Tree of Life, and eat from it to live forever. Praise God.
If everything is in God control, there will be no suffering, struggling, and negativity and if a nation on the earth can have that, then BOOM - 15Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
Psalm 145
3Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. All we can do is read the bible and read the Lord's greatness; but we cannot go into the secret chambers of the earth and see what is stored there. We cannot search that out. We can go into outer space; but we cannot tilt the earth or move it ten feet back to create better conditions on the earth can we? So His greatness is unsearchable.6And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. It was terrible how fire and brimstone rained down on Sodom and Gomorrah, but it was greatness in ridding evil from His sight.
9The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies also extend to all. Mercy is more than just forgiving. Mercy is also knowing that the "Red Coats" are coming and warning the town to get ready or knowing a hurricane will blast through a town and telling the people to get out. If you listen you will be delivered, if you do not, you will perish. However, mercy was granted to you for you to have the opportunity to deliver yourself.
And God gave that to every nation and every person. He does not destroy you without fair warnings.
17The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. 18The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. 19He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.
Excellent verses here: the Lord is right in all His ways and Holy, and He is near to them that call on His name in TRUTH. So you must find the truth and it is in His documented Word we have been reading the last 45 days.
Then God will fulfill the desires of those who fear Him. What if you attend a church where the pastor tells you to replace the word fear with love? If you do not fear the Lord; how will He then give you your desires or hear your cries to save you?
Psalm 146
3Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. 4His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Here is another psalm that comments on death and what happens to one who dies. First off, do not trust in princes or man who cannot help you. If you ever get ill or sick, pray to God, and go see a doctor, but do not trust the doctor, trust in God to help that doctor perform Godly acts of healing on your through the doctors practice. Because it clearly says do not trust in man for there is no help.
When man's breath goes from him and he dies, we go to a grave yard and bury that soul. In that very same day, that person's thoughts perish. In our days, if that person did not write a great deal of his or her thoughts on paper or have it saved on a computer, you will never know their thoughts. Their thoughts perish as they sleep. So no one who has ever died will come back and haunt you or scare you; as that is all in your mind and your fears. The dead are dead, that is why we safely say, "rest in peace." I've never heard one grieving person say to the loved one, "look down from heaven in peace." It has always been RIP.
The church teaching of someone dying and going to heaven was started when a loved one grieved so bad that the trend of comforting that person was started by telling them their loved one has returned to GOD and is smiling down on them right now. This would be comforting and allows the person to speak to their loved one who is deceased.
It also however, started in the garden of Eden when Satan told the woman that she would not die. These go hand in hand; this is why it is better to simply tell the person the truth, that their loved one is sleeping and that they will awake when the Lord Jesus Christ returns.
Psalm 147
4He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.5Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. I, at times, feel like quoting the entire bible it is that good; but then reading the bible in 90 days would be just that. But the point of this challenge is to point out very important parts of the bible so that you read them with good understanding. It is pleasant to give praises to our God, because of what He has done and what He is going to do. Things such as, build up JERUSALEM, gather the outcasts of Israel, heal the broken hearted, cover up wounds, and loose men out of a spiritual prison.
God can also tell you how many stars are in the heaven and He can called each of them by name. If there was a man that smart I'd be scared to approach him, so you already know with God I walk on egg shells.
19He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
20He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
Very important verses: God showed and shows His word, statues, and judgments to the children of Jacob or Israel; and hasn't done that collectively with any other nation. Nor has God shown any nation His judgments. He may show an individual, such as a Chinese man, or a German woman, or even an Ethiopian man, but He has never gathered China, Germany, or Ethiopia together at a mountain and gave them His covenant or shown His judgments.
Does this mean they cannot get it? No. It merely means they have to go get it from a physical informed Jew or child of Israel.
Psalm chapter 148 is all about praising the Lord, everything must praise the Lord.
5Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created. Remember Him saying let there be light and there was light. He commanded it to be created and an angel went out and made it just like He commanded. Never cease in giving God praise and glory.
Psalm 149
In God's kingdom all His saints will break out into singing, and they will sing a new song, we will read the words of that song before our 90 days are finished. Let Israel rejoice in their King because Jesus is the King of Israel. We are to praise Him with singing and with instruments; I love when I see a church getting down singing and praising God, it is even better when understanding is present there as well.6Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; Singing praises with your mouth and holding your bible, the two-edged sword, in your hand. This is how to praise God, with singing of knowledge and understanding of the Word of God.
A few chapter back, in psalm 132 David was told his children will sit on thrones and judge, in psalm 122 we saw there were set thrones of judgment. This is an honor that the saints will have if they are worthy. You will be judging and not standing in judgment sweating as you think about your life, if you were good (in the eyes of God) or if you were good according to man.
Psalm 150
6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD. Praise God, for His mighty acts, according to His excellent greatness, praise Him with a trumpet, harp, timbrel, dance, stringed instruments, organs, loud cymbals, drums, every thing that breaths should praise the Lord. Praise the Lord, we have finished the beautiful and powerful, and insightful book of Psalms. We are moving on into Proverbs, written by the son of king David, Solomon. Here we will get wise words from the king Solomon.
Proverbs chapter 1
7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. We've all heard of the old proverb in small villages and different sayings of wise men. Here we are getting a bunch for the man who was acknowledged by God to be the wisest man every to live (aside from Jesus).
A proverb is to know wisdom and instructions and to see words of understanding. If you can see the great words pointed out here, you are getting understanding from them. A proverb helps you receive instructions of wisdom, justice, judgment, and equity that you are able to then pass onto other people, even simple people. Older men should pass it along to younger men and give them knowledge and discretion. "Don't do that young man, it will lead you to going to jail." That is having discretion.
And a wise person will hear and increase their learning and eventually understand a proverb and what it means, even dark hard to understand sayings. The fearing of God is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. They do not want to hear about fearing God. That is a foolish person.
Getting good instructions are suppose to be the nice chain on your neck, and the excellent jewelry on your fingers and in your ears. Being able to take instructions, especially from the Lord. Proverbs is loaded with simple wise sayings, such as young men not running with violent vain people. It will only make you like them, vain.
Growing up I didn't need the Boys and Girls club, because I had Proverbs. I use to read this every week. The instructions in here kept me away for all the trouble I could have gotten into because I became wise. Kids in high school, grammar school, and college use to call me "wise man" and "old man" because the book of proverbs set me apart and that was as a child.
22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Simple ones are people that say all you have to do is believe in Jesus and you will be saved. If it were that simple, KKK members who tortured and brutally killed blacks in America would be saved. We'll all meet those hateful people in God's kingdom because they believed in Jesus. It's more than that, you must also do what He says.
33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. Who ever listens to wisdom, will dwell safely and be quiet from the fear of evil.
Proverbs 2
1My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;2So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
3Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
4If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
5Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
This self explained; that is why I could read this when I was 8 years of age because it is very simple. Hide the Lord's commandments in my heart and APPLY my heart to understanding, cry for knowledge, go after it like I would go after a high paying job or hidden treasures, then I will have understanding of the fear of God, and in that process find the knowledge of God. The very thing that people lack and are perishing for is knowledge.
All wisdom and knowledge comes from God, so all you have to do is ask Him, in truth, and He will give it to you. 12To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
Having understanding and knowledge will deliver you from an evil man who speaks lies, be it an evil man in the street with guns and a mask, an evil man in a bank swindling you out of money because of an excessive high interest loan, or an evil man in a place of worship telling lies that you cannot read about. Having knowledge will prepare you against such a man.
Proverbs 3
1My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:2For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
Remember psalm chapter 119, all the references to the keeping of the law and commandments. That came from David and Solomon, two of the rare good kings that Israel had. Keeping the law and commandments will give long life, here in the flesh but really we are talking of eternal life.
5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Sometimes we get caught up in trying to do things our way and not His. Remove yourself from doing that. Remember it is God that has the earth swinging out there with no strings attached to it; if He can do that I'm sure He can find you a good job or made your business move to the next level.
6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Ask God before you make a move or decision and He will direct your paths. He will send you a thought that if you're wise and act upon it, it will be golden. We like to call that instinct, I called it knowledge from God.
11My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:
12For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
Accept when the Lord sends you through tough times or corrects you for sin, He loves you. If your life is always golden and peachy and creamy, maybe God has given up on you, and has no more delight in you?
You should be happy when you find wisdom and understanding, because it is better than fine gold and more precious than the great rubies of the earth. Solomon says there is nothing to be more desired than wisdom and understanding, which he called "her."
She (wisdom), comes with length of days, riches, honor, pleasantness, and peaceful paths. Who doesn't want all this? A foolish person. Wisdom also has a tree of life to those who lay hold onto her. When you get her, you can just about get Jesus in an arm shot.
How did God make the heavens and the earth?
19The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
This is how.
Proverbs 4
1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.2For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
Good doctrine is the Lord's laws and commandments. That is sound and good for your health. That is why this is called Bible Food, we are getting good food here.
5Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
6Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
In everything you set out to get in life, the most important thing is to get the understanding of a subject, especially the subject of God. Understand that those who do not keep His covenant will be removed from the earth to perish forever. In school or on the job, get the understanding of the course. Don't just be someone who can memorize. Learn it with understanding.
Stay away from violent evil men and evil men period. They cannot sleep unless they are able to do some evil. What if they couldn't find nothing to do all day; in order to get some sleep they will have to do something evil to you.
Proverbs 5 1My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: 2That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:4But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
Men should learn this because it happens all the time. Women seduce men, especially married men because the grass appears greener across the street. But her end is as bitter as wormwood, and she is as sharp as a s two-edged sword. You thought you were better off; but you're not.
10Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger; A 90 year old man fell for a 23 year old beauty and left all his riches to her while his wife and children got nothing. Strangers were filled with his wealth because of his foolish lust.
Married men and women, drink waters out of thine own fountains and out of your own wells. In other words, deal with your wife or your husband and none others. Deal with things that are your own.
18Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. 19Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
So why go and deal with a strange women when you can be bountiful and joyful with your wife. Look at all the great men in scandals because they did not read and implement this. They got caught up in the flattery of a strange woman and forgot the wife of their youth.
Truth of the matter is that this strange women is not just the coworker you are flirting with. It is also a spiritual strange women. Her doctrine is strange and is not from the Bible, don't get caught in the spiritual strange woman of other religions, and also of bad practicing Christianity.
Proverbs 6
If you've made an agreement to borrow money, be sure to repay it, especially with a friend. Humble yourself and make sure you secure the friendship and pay your vows (v1-3).If you are a lazy person, go to an ant farm or watch the animal channel section on ants. You'll see how they work hard, they have no guide or ruler and still they provide themselves food enough. Too much sleep and laziness are detrimental because it brings on harsh poverty, and after while, you'll be hungry and your wants and desires will come on you like an armed man. You may convert to stealing and robbing all because you were and are lazy (v6-11).
Six things that the Lord hates, and the seventh is a straight up abomination to Him. Let's see if we are doing any of these things so we can stop it immediately.
- Being proud and having much pride, you better learn to swallow it.
- Lying all the time, stop and learn to tell the truth or keep your mouth closed.
- Killing innocent people, physically or spiritually, God hates this.
- A wicked mind that devises wicked things, God does not like this.
- People that are quick to run into doing evil. Let's go jump a random kids after school, or let's go car jack someone. That's not good.
- Bearing false witness, speaking lies, I know the Lord doesn't like this because those Pharisees did it to Him bearing false witness against Him.
- The abomination, is the person who sows a discord among brothers. Spreading lies to get brothers to be against each other.
23For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
24To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Keep the commandments, they are a lamp to show you the path, even the path of eternal life. They will also keep you from the evil woman that flatters you with her voice and words. Spiritually and physically, with this lamp of the commandments, you will be able to turn away from that.
Do not lust after a womans beauty, because there is plenty of beauty in the world. A whorish woman can and will bring a man, even a great man down to a piece of bread. Just ask Eliot Spitzer
An adulterous woman will seek after a good man, because she could go find a man who likes whoring; but she wants to destroy marriages, and lives, so it is very wise to steer clear of her and her types.
Look at the examples the Lord gives: can a man take fire in his cloths and not be burned? Can he walk on hot coal and not burn his feet? So then again, can a man go into his neighbor's wife and touch her and not be innocent? No, no, and NO!
People get mad at thieves, even when he steals just to eat, but they have understanding and mercy at him. However, a man who commits adultery with a woman, spiritually that man lacks understanding, and he does it to the destruction of his own soul.
He is dishonored and the man of jealousy, whom's wife he laid with will not spare him in the day of vengeance no matter what gifts or money he offers. God will not wipe away his reproach and we saw this with king David and all the troubles he had to go through all his life because of his sin with Bathsheba. Avoid adultery at all cost, because it destroys the marriage institution that God almighty set up.
That's all for today, grace and peace in Jesus name until tomorrow. (8:14am)
