Bible Food Day 44 in Psalms

(5:08 am) Good morning, here we go again reading the bible getting our spiritual minerals and vitamin intake that will sustain us for the day and forever; so let's get right to it.

Psalm 109

Jesus is praying to the Father here (verse 1-5), the average bible reader would think this is David, but when we read what the writer is saying we clearly can tell it is Jesus Christ.  The Pharisees and may other religious groups had deceitfully spoke against Jesus with lies, the compassed Him in many areas attempting to hurt Him with no cause at all.  And they did all this for His love; because they loved God they became His adversary and given Jesus and evil reward for all His good works.

Jesus prayed for a lot of ugly stuff against His enemies all because they showed no mercy in their conduct with Him.  If you show no mercy; you will receive no mercy from the Lord because evil was on your heart to do to your fellow man.  20Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

Psalm 110

1The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. 2The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.

This is a very important Psalm that goes by a lot of readers like an express train with no stops.  This is a scripture Jesus used to quiet so Pharisees who were questioning Him with mocking questions.  The author says the Lord said to my Lord.  Lord is like saying Master; so two Masters are talking to each other in this instance and one says to the other to sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.

Plain and simple this is the Father talking to the Messiah (Jesus Christ).  What is He telling Jesus; that in His second return to the earth your servants will be ready to fight for you.  Remember they ran away when Jesus was betrayed and arrested.  Pilate was even told by Jesus that in His kingdom His servants would fight.  But Jesus was merely dying for the people at that time.

4The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

The Father has made a promise and will not go back on it no matter what, that Jesus is a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.  This makes Melchizedek appear to be a different being than Jesus, but we will investigate this later in Hebrews.  At any rate, Jesus is now to be High Priest forever as Melchizedek was, forever.  Quickly Melchizedek used the bread and wine with Abraham, and that is what Jesus used when He ate the passover with His disciples.

The last three verses talks clearly about what Jesus will do at His return; He will war and kill a lot of kings of the earth in His wrath, He will judge the nations by filling the places with dead bodies of men who won't repent, take down many heads of states and nations, and establish His kingdom.  I certainly hope readers take note and put themselves on the right side of this battle.

In Psalm chapter 111, we go back to a softer prayerful psalm praising God for His wonderful works and goodness to man.  Two verses that stand out to me are the last two:

9He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

He sent redemption to His people Israel and then clearly states that "Holy" and "Reverend" is His name.  Men should not title themselves the Holy Pastor So and So.  Nor should they be Reverend Jesse Such and Such; but Pastor or Priest So and So is fine because Holy and Reverend is the Lord's name.

Verse ten follows that with the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.  If one is wise, they would remove Holy and Reverend from their titles.  Also you can read this blog or book about reading the bible with understanding; but to really get great understanding you have to keep God's commandments.  A good understanding have all they that do His commandments.  I tell people all the time that do not think we are to keep God's commandments to try it for 30 days while reading the bible; and see if things do not make more sense as you're reading.

Psalm 112

1Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.

It's all over the bible to fear God and keep His commandments to have access to eternal life.  That is why the man is blessed who does this.  3Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever  Most pastors who preach about financial prosperity may read to you verse three; but they avoid reading verse one which tells you truly how to get the wealth and riches.  And God may give the wealth and riches financially in His kingdom and not now.  The wealth and riches could be wealth and riches in understanding the Word of God.  What ever it is; you can attain it by reading and doing the commandments of God and fearing HIM.

Some words of wisdom here; a good man shows favour, and lends to the needy; but he will guide his affairs with discretion.  So he may not lend to the man who has not paid back the previous loan.  A good man is not afraid of evil tidings: because his heart is fixed on trusting in the LORD.

Psalm 113

1Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.  6Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!  We have to ask ourselves, who is like God who humbled Himself to die for man who sinned against Him.  This is indeed a great God.

Psalm chapter 114 tells when Israel came out of Egypt, the natural elements got out of the way of the Lord and trembled.  7Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;  When a body of water moves out of your way scared of your presence; you know you have made the transformation to being God.  Until then we are merely men, dust of the ground.

In Psalm chapter 115; we go back to the trusting in God theme.  9O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.
10O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield. 11Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.  Trusting and fearing the Lord is the best way to becoming just like Him.

Psalm 116 I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my supplications.  It's beautiful to pray and have the prayer answered.  That's why so many saints call on the Lord, and so will I call on Him as long as I live as well.

Psalm 117

1O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. 2For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.  This has to be the shortest chapter in the bible or at least it was getting us ready for the longest chapter in 119.

Psalm chapter 118 is one that is mingled with Jesus through it; and we'll see the verses where Jesus speaks.  First off: 8It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.  Self explanatory.

10All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.  All nations come against Jesus; but in the name of the Lord will He destroy them.  Remember that Jesus came in His Father's name.

11They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.  He says it again.

12They compassed me about like bees: they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.  Three times, yikes.  This is spoken directly at men who continually fight against the truth of the Lord.  They will be destroyed.  If you do not think this is Jesus, just wait till we read about the battle of Armageddon when all nations will come against Him in the valley of Jehoshaphat.

14The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.  This is interesting because Jesus was not our salvation until He died and rose from the grave; so it is fitting that the verse says He has become my salvation.

26Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.  We saw this quoted in the gospels concerning Jesus.  The Old Testament is basically the New Testament written by older guys.

Psalm 119 This is one long chapter and should stand on it's own.  Jesus authored this one completely and you will see how often it is referred that man should keep God's commandments.  I do not think it is humanly possible to see that Jesus wants to keep the Father's commandments so much in this chapter then suddenly say "the Laws are no more because I died for you because you broke my laws that I was able to keep when I became a man just like you."

That sounded ridiculous and so should anyone who teaches you not to keep the commandments because Christ kept it all for you.  I'm going to highlight verses that refer to keeping His laws, commandments, statues, judgments, and ordinances.

6Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. 8I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.  10With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

16I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. 18Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. 19I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.

20My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times. 21Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.
Wow!  This is just verse 20

23Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. 26I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.  29Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.
30I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.  32I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. 33Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.
34Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. 35Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.
I really think this is enough because there is over 100 verses in this Psalm.

43And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments. 44So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever. 47And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
48My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.  Jesus loved the Lord's commandments.  Shouldn't we, if we are following Jesus?

51The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law. 52I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.
53Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law. 54Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.
55I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.  60I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
61The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.  I have to stop here.

Too many references to keeping the law, loving the commandments, His statues are good, chasing after keep the law, being afflicted but not veering from keeping the commandments.  So let's just read the rest of the chapter and enjoy what the Lord has spoken.

71It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.  Sometimes it is good that we were afflicted by the Lord because it maybe allowed us to take time and study His word harder to learn to keep His ways.

73Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.  I pray to the Lord for more understanding each day; and it's all so that I can learn and keep His commandments.

74They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.  This is why I know this is Jesus writing; because we'd love to see David; but those of us who fear the Father will be very glad when we see Jesus because we have been hoping in the Father's Word.  Jesus said He only spoke what the Father told Him to speak and nothing else.  So during the disciples day those that feared God were happy to see Jesus.  Likewise, during the last days when Jesus returns, those that fear the Father will be happy to see Jesus too.

7O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
98Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
99I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
100I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

Look at what knowing and doing the law and the commandments can do for you.  It can make you wiser than the ancients, and all your teachers, because you have understanding of things that they do not.

142Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.  If the truth shall set you free, then the keeping of God's laws will set you free.

160Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.  The Lord's words are true from the beginning and they endure for ever.  In the beginning God said let there be light.  It is also written that these are the beast you should eat and these you should not.  It says keep the sabbath day holy, it says keep the commandments.  If those are true from the beginning then why are the commandments not allowed in schools.  Why are they not taught vigorously in the churches and to the children?  This is something to think about.

176I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.  This is fitting last verse, even when we go lost like sheep, we still are not to forget the Lord's commandments.  The keeping of God's commandments are life eternal.

Psalm 120 is short and sweet.  7I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.  Jesus is for peace; but when He speaks it turns to war because He will say keep the commandments and people do not want to do them.  So a war has to ensue.

Psalm 121

1I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.  Our help is good if it comes from the great Being who created heaven and earth.  Trust in Him, the Lord God.

Psalm 122

1I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. 2Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.  My dad use to sing this every morning at 6 am when he woke the family up for prayer.  It is a psalm that I look forward to, going into the true house of the Lord.

5For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.  We learn a great tidbit here, that there are set thrones of Judgment.  Jesus will not be the only one judging the people.  If you are able to make the first resurrection, you also, will be passing judgment instead of being judged.  Keep the commandments and love your fellow man and your God in the name of Jesus and this is granted to you.

In Psalm chapter 123, we are praying for mercy, mercy to keep ourselves from being hated by the Lord for our sins.

Psalm chapter 124; it is the Lord who helped Israel, who helped David, and who helps us.  It's not us, or we would have been defeated quickly.  Get your help from the Most High God.  8Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 125
1They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.  You cannot move a servant of God who trust wholly in the Lord.  That's like moving a mountain, even mount Zion.  It cannot happen.

Psalm 126

1When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.  There is a day that seems like a dream; in when the Lord returns the captivity of Jerusalem and the children of Israel.  When this happens the whole world will see the greatness and power of the true and living God, who is Jesus.

Psalm 127

This is an exciting psalm, if the Lord does not build your house, your work was/is in vain.  If your security does not come from the Lord, if your pastor does not come from the Lord, it is all for nothing.  If you sit up late to work or study (even the Bible), or rise up early to do so, and do it without knowledge or understanding, it is for nothing.  God gives His servants good sleep (in the living and in death).

Having children, no matter what the economic times are, is good because children are an heritage of the Lord, they are His reward.  Remember, it was the first commandment to be fruitful and replenish the earth.  That is why Jesus said suffer the children to come unto Him.  He never turned away children and neither do I.

Psalm 128

1Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.  I did hear a pastor once tell his congregation that in the bible where it says fear, replace it with love.  I cringe for him (and his congregation that take that to heart) when I read psalms like these that say blessed is EVERYONE that fears the Lord.  It cannot be a bad thing to fear God, especially when it is the beginning of wisdom.

That pastor took all the wisdom away from His congregation.

Psalm 129 Although times have been rough, we get old and things don't go our way always.  Also, we are treated bad by other, hard times don't prevail against servants of God.  We will over come all things through Jesus Christ, the Lord.

Psalm 130

7Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
8And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.  He will not only redeem Israel, but He will also redeem the entire world, praise be to God.

Psalm 131  Let us keep our hope in God and not get too caught up in worldly vanities.

Psalm 132

1Lord, remember David, and all his afflictions:
We read in Samuel or Chronicles the promise God made to David in that he will be king over Israel forever and that His son will build a house for God to rest.  This chapter highlights some details for us about this promise.

David would not sleep until he found the place that the Lord is going to rest forever.  I don't know why David didn't know God would be in Heaven.   11The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
12If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

The Lord swore to David that His seed will set up a throne and that seed is Jesus.  Also, if David's children will keep the covenant of the Lord (Old Testament) and His testimony (New Testament), which He will teach them, then they will sit upon David's throne for ever.  This is confusing.  Not really, if you keep God's covenant then you will reign with Christ for 1000 years, even forever.  Reign with Him means to co-rule that is why you will have a throne.  Congress co-rules with Barak Obama right now.

13For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.
14This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

God has chosen Jerusalem because He has desired it for His dwelling place to live.  This is His rest forever and He will live there because He has desired it.  The Lord wants to live on the earth and it is confusion to when we want to send Him back to heaven with us when He wants to be on the earth with us.  This is understanding, to know where your God wants to dwell and to be prepared to dwell with Him.

Psalm 133

1Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
 2It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;

This is one of my favorite psalm because as men we drop this ball too hard at times.  It says how pleasant it is for brothers to be in unity together with each other.

It is precious oil on the head that ran down to the beard, even on Aaron's beard that skipped down to the skirts of his clothing.  When you see a great number of men together, in unity, doing positive works, it is certainly a great and pleasant thing.

Psalm 134

1Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which by night stand in the house of the LORD.
2Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
3The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.

This is a fitting end to todays readings; to bless the Lord, who made heaven and earth.  I hope you had a great time reading and I hope you follow this with a great day.  Praise God in doing so, in Jesus name.  Amen. (7:28 am)
