Bible Food Daily Reading on Day 56

Peace and greetings friend, we are here to read day 56 of our journey. We'll read Jeremiah 24 to 33.

This chapter, Jeremiah chapter 24, begins with a parable of figs in a basket. The good figs and the bad figs. The good figs were the people the Lord will take away captive and bring them back, and show mercy on them because they have a chance, they are good figs. These are the people like Ezra and Nehemiah who the Lord granted to return to the land and build.

The bad figs are the evil people who will be carried away captive into all the world and be evil treated. They are so bad they cannot be eaten. Like a rotten fruit that has no chance, you throw that out and do not care about.

Jeremiah 25

For seven years Jeremiah has been prophesying along with other servants of God to help turn the people away from their evil ways, but the people will not listen. Because the people did not listen, the Lord is going to bring horror to the people and they will go into captivity and serve the king of Babylon for 70 years.

12And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.
13And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.
14For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.

Here we have confusing prophesy. It is confusing to many bible scholars because of single words. After the seventy years are finished, the Lord will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation for their sin, and make it perpetual desolations. Also the Lord will bring on all that Jeremiah wrote against all the nations. Nation was plural this time.

Many nations and great kings will serve themselves on them and God will repay them for all their deeds that they do. We have not read it yet in the bible, but when Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon went down, they were not taken down by a multiple of nations. According to the bible, Belshazzar, a son of Nebuchadnezzar was assassinated after a party of drinking and entertaining guest, and the king went to Darius the Mede.

This does not coincide with the scripture in verse 12-14; so these verse must be speaking of something else we will get to later.

15For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.
28And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink.
29For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.

Now the prophesy that Jeremiah wrote against all nations is written in verses 15-29 is that God sent him with a cup of wine full of fury from the Lord that will make the nations mad when the drink, and all nations were required to drink. And if they refused to drink, God will make them certainly drink because if he punished His own people, the children of Israel, then other nations certainly must be punished. This prophesy is of the end of the world, the return of the Lord rather:

30Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
31A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.
32Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
33And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.

Jeremiah is no longer writing about just one nation Israel, but all nations. The Lord will come down on all nations with a shout, and tread them like grapes. Remember Isaiah 63, when the Lord asked the Lord why His clothes were stained with blood like He was walking in a wine press? Here it is again but from Jeremiah, that the Lord will send evil from nation to nation and those who will be killed by the Lord will be all over the earth.

35And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.
36A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the LORD hath spoiled their pasture.

At this time the shepherds, who are the pastors, will have no where to run and their flock will deal with them as will the Lord.

Jeremiah 26

1In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word from the LORD, saying,
2Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD's house, and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD's house, all the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:

The Lord sent Jeremiah again to speak at His Temple and told Him to speak all the words that the Lord commanded; and not to leave out one word. If they listen, the Lord will repent of the evil, if they do not, He will bring it on them. The thing that is important is that the Lord told Jeremiah not to leave out one word.

4And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,
5To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;
6Then will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.

We have to walk in His law and listen to His prophets , or else Jerusalem will be a curse to all nations of the earth. And it it today not a curse? Everyone is fighting over Jerusalem, wars are started based on that land, and all nations are cursed with it because of the children of Israel not keeping the laws of God. Had they kept the laws of God, they would not have been removed from the land and their would be no cause for nations to be fighting over it.

So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD and they did not like it and they accused Jeremiah of speaking fear and negativity to the people. They threatened his life and surrounded him to kill him right there in the house of the Lord (verse 7-9).

Jeremiah was brought before the princes (political administration) and told that he was worthy of death because of his negative prophesy against Jerusalem. Jeremiah told them that the Lord sent him with those words and if they return from their evil and do good, the Lord will repent of His evil. Jeremiah told them that they could do whatever they wanted with him; but the Lord is still going to terrorize the land, and his innocent blood will be on their heads and their children (verse 10-15).

They did not find Jeremiah worthy of death, and different men stood up to talk about men who prophesied to kings in the past. Those that listen found grace, those that did not were killed.

Jeremiah 27

In this chapter in the first seven verses the Lord sent Jeremiah to the kings of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyrus, Zidon, and Judah telling the they have bonds and yokes on their necks symbolizing them being ruled over.

The Lord sets up rulers in the earth He created and has appointed Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon to be ruler over the entire world. Everyone is to serve him, even the animals. Also, all nations will serve him and his sons until their end, and then many nations will storm them.
The Lord will put the nation that does not serve Babylon the Lord will punish, Zedekiah was one of which that did not want to serve Babylon and was rooted out of the land. It's pretty cut and dry as far as the choices Israel had.

Jeremiah chapter 28

A prophet named Hananiah, the son of Azur the prophet, which was of Gibeon, spoke to Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, telling them the God of Israel said He has broken the yoke of the king of Babylon within two full years. He also said the vessels of the Lord will be brought back in two years. This prompted Jeremiah to say amen; but he put a stipulation on it; that when a prophet prophesies if it comes to pass then it is from God and that is how to tell.

The Lord sent the word to Jeremiah to confront Hananiah about his false prophesy, and Jeremiah told him the Lord had not sent him and that he was making the people believe a lie, such as going to heaven when one dies. So the Lord pronounced evil against Hananiah in that he will die in the same year they were in, because he taught rebellion against the Lord. And he died in that same year in the 7th month. So much for watching a prophesy come to pass.

Jeremiah 29

5Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; 6Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.
7And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.

Jeremiah wrote letters to the dignitaries who were taken out first like Jeconiah the fallen king and the queen and others, writing that they should pretty much get comfortable while in captivity because they will be there for a long while. So have kids, build houses, plant gardens and increase so you don't diminish as a people while in captivity. Also do not be revolter but seek peace in your captivity.

Jeremiah wrote to them not to trust nor believe false prophets, but to simply maintain, and after 70 years the Lord will do what He promised in returning them to the land.

Jeremiah 30 1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book.

Here Jeremiah is getting the word from the Lord, and the Lord is commanding him to write all that he hears and to put it into a book. This is the book we are reading and that has been the national best seller every year in it's existence. It's the bible.

9But they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them.

The Lord asked if you've ever seen a man pregnant and giving birth? Then why does God see men in pain like they are giving birth (verse 6)? It is because in that day, there will be none like it, it will be a day that the children of Israel will be seriously troubled, but they will be saved out of it. This is speaking of the great tribulation, this is the only time in the world that has no comparison on how wicked and bad it will be on the earth.

In verse 9, we see the resurrection of the dead in that will commence after the time of Jacob's trouble, in the resurrection of David, the king of Israel. The Lord will not forget the children of Israel, He is just correcting their vile behavior, and after this captivity, they will will learn to be obedient and serve the Lord in gladness (verse 11).

24The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he hath done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it.

The Lord will not return until He has done all that He said shall be done, everything in His mind to perform must be executed, in the latter days, we will consider it deeply.

Jeremiah 31

1At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.
2Thus saith the LORD, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.

When the Lord returns, He will be a God to all the families of Israel, (Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph, Benjamin), and not just of the tribe of Judah. The people left in the captivity that started with Nebuchadnezzar and completed with Titus in 70 AD; will be brought back to the wilderness and then into their land. The land is occupied by the Jewish people and Palestinian Arabs.

8Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. This does not look like the children of Israel have been cast out.

9They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
10Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

Israel will come back crying, weeping, and praying, because they will find out that the whole God of the Universe that their fathers have sinned against is their Father, and they are His firstborn. First born means that other nations will be adopted and follow, but Israel (Ephraim) is the first born.

God scattered the children of Israel, and God will bring them back. I have to put this in to recognize because every once in a while we get a man who will think he is the messiah or a leader and take people to a remote area in Waco, Texas or other country and say the Lord is back, or the Lord is with him.
 Follow no man anywhere! I repeat, follow no man anywhere until you learn where this wilderness is and when it is time to go. Then the Lord will gather His people.

17And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border. 22How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

When the Lord returns, their is hope in the children of Israel's end when they return home. The Lord is doing a new thing in the earth, where women direct men, we see this being done in levels due to weak minded men.
The days are coming where the Lord will sow both houses of Israel and Judah together again and watch over them to do good. In those days, everyone will die for their own sin and no more will kids pay for the sins of their fathers as the children of Israel have suffered (verse 27-30).

Also the days are coming when the Lord will make a new covenant with both houses of Israel and it won't be like the one they made with their fathers that the broke. This is the covenant God will make, He will put His law in their minds and hearts. Have you ever wanted to steal something and your own conscious tells you that is wrong? That is because God has wired us to remember His law (31-33).

A man committing adultery with another man's wife runs out the room or hides in the closet like R. Kelly when the husband comes home because he knows he's doing something wrong. He doesn't get dressed and say "I'll see you all later." This is because we are all wired with the laws in our mind. In times past, the Israelites had to wear the commandments as clothing to remind them of the law. Now it is in our hearts. The only way it is not there is by conscious effort to remove it.

By believing the law is no more, and then by breaking it over and over till you feel no guilt or remorse in breaking them, then you know you are finished. When the Lord returns, no one will be ignorant of Him, everyone will know who He is, and what He is about.

POWERFUL VERSES:

35Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:
36If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

As long as the sun, moon, and stars are out there that the Lord created, as long as the sea and oceans are divided, then the children of Israel will always be a nation before the Lord forever. The Jews or Israelites being cast away is simply an incorrect statement.

Jeremiah 32

1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar. This gives us a time period of when this chapters events took place.

Jeremiah purchased a piece of land that was his by inheritance. What people do not know is that the Lord has a plot of land designated to each person. Right now, you have a plot of land just for you somewhere on the earth as an inheritance to be redeemed when the Lord returns. So why would you want to go to heaven? Jeremiah is not looking to go to heaven and he is a true prophet of the Lord.

Jeremiah 33

1Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 2Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;

Jeremiah is receiving this prophesy while he is in prison in the court for his mean prophesy to the hard headed children of Israel.

8And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

He will pardon all their sins, but when He meets them in the wilderness and addresses them, any rebels will be thrust out. All nations will fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that that the Lord procures to Israel at His return. This is how it was suppose to be originally.

Israel should have kept the Lord's commandments and He would have blessed them and all the countries in the world would have wondered how they were blessed so much and they would tell the nations we keep the commandments of the Lord. We'd be in one big utopia; but because of sin, the children of Israel have help destroy the world.

15In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

This is Jesus, the righteous branch that grew up unto David, to be king over Israel.

17For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
18Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

David will never want a man to sit upon the throne of Israel except for Jesus who is God, so Jesus will be the King of Israel and the entire world. Also, the Levites will not want a man to offer burnt sacrifices, except Jesus, so Jesus will be and is the High Priest of Israel and the entire world. Jesus is King and High Priest.

20Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;
21Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

No one can stop day or night in their appointed times, so no one can break the covenant with David to have Jesus reign on his throne or be the High Priest to the Father.

25Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;
26Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

This ices it! The Jews or the Israelites rather are still God's people and will never relinquish their position as the people of God, His firstborn, His elect. All other nations have to join in; not replace them.

This concludes today's reading, we will convene tomorrow. Praise God in the name of Jesus Christ.
