Reading the Bible in 90 Days, Day One

I'm doing a program to read through the entire bible in 90 days. This is actually day two of the quest. This is day one, I've read Genesis 1 through 16 (below), and Genesis 17 through chapter 28 will be read tomorrow.

Genesis Chapter One

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
God's creation. God made the heaven and earth and we're about to see the creation of everything we see around us.
Day One: He makes light, which divides the day from night, and the evening and then the morning were the first day. Keep that in mind, the night starts the day, the morning follows. In the Roman calendar, midnight starts the day; on God's calendar, when the sun goes down, a new day begins.
Day Two:
Now the earth was nothing but a big ball of water and the Lord created the atmospheres and the heavens where the sun and moon are located and what many do not know is that above the stars that are in heaven there is a big body of water. God used what we call "space" to divide those waters away from the waters on the earth. This is what verses 6-8 is detailing and this was done on day two.
Day Three:
On the third day, God brought forth the land, or dry earth, as I said before the earth was just covered in water. On day three God brings the land up as well as the grass, herbs, fruit trees and all things for plants and trees for food. Their seed was in after his kind, so according to this what came first, the chicken or the egg?
Day Four:
Now the light God created He put them in Heaven not only to divide the night from the day but also for them to be signs and changes of the seasons, for days and for years. In other words, here is our shot clock, here is the sand bottle watch ticking. This creates time. And God made two big lights in heaven, the sun and moon and stars also. So the first new moon was made on the fourth day. Something to keep in mind for future studies.
Day Five:
In day five, God made the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and required them the multiply greatly on the earth. This was the fifth day of work.
Day Six:
On the sixth day, God made the land based animals and then made man in His own image. So we have these wax images at museums today and they make them look exactly like the celebrity. This is what God did with man. With some of the finest dirt in the earth, God made man to look like Him but not to have the abilities as He has. God and man are of two completely different substances.
26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God gave man power over all other animals and God created both the male and female. The male didn't come first, it is just the woman was inside the man. Another note in verse 26 is that God says let "us" make man in "our" image. God is more than one we learn here. Just as man is more than one so is God. We will get a description of angels to really see if God is referring to angels when He says let us make man in our own image. This was the sixth day, so man was created on the sixth day of God's creation plan.

Genesis 2

Day Seven:
1Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Now these three verses should have been part of Genesis chapter one if you read straight through it. The scriptures originally did not have chapters and verses, they added this to make it easier to read. Now the heavens were finished and on the seventh day God ended His work which He made and He rested on the seventh day. God blessed the seventh day and set it apart from the other days because He finally rested from all His work.
Here is the blueprint of His creation. Nothing had been done in chapter one, it is just the rendering. He proceeds His actual work in chapter two, but begins telling the story at when He created man. In reading it it will show us this.
5And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
He had the plants in the field, but had not caused it to rain; nor had He created the man yet! So here action is being taken; before it was like a man having a business plan, it's laid out of what he wants to do; but then he actually has to go out and do it. In verse seven the Lord God forms man out of the ground and breathes life into his nostrils and the man became a living soul. No soul was put into Him, man became the living soul. If he did not have the air in his nostrils man would have remained a dead soul and the same is true still to our present day.
God made a Garden with all kinds of trees with fruits and veggies on it and told the man he can eat of every tree. He also show the man all the amenities the Lord God made for him, the animals and such. The man was happy but something was missing. The Lord then put him to deep sleep and made the woman come forth and the man was very happy then.
In addition to all the fine trees to eat off of physically, there were two spiritual trees to in the garden, one the Tree of Life, the other the tree to avoid, the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis chapter Three:
The fall of man came when Even was deceived by the serpent, which is the devil and she took the fruit or conversation back to her husband and he listened, al though he knew they'd die because they were not suppose to eat of Satan's words. That what this is about; not fruits, apples, or oranges, but about the words Satan spoke.
9And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
This missing verse has cleared up many folklore around this event and story in the bible, the Lord said "who told you that you were naked?" This should certainly imply to us that the apple or fruit did not show Adam and Eve that they were naked; Satan told them, that means they spoke to the one that the Lord told them to avoid.
Swift punishments were given, punishments we still reap today. For Satan, the church is at war with him, the woman gives birth and has much greater pain than she was created to have in child birth, and the man works for every dime he makes and for every crumb he eats. If he doesn't work for it he won't eat. Prior to this, we could just eat off a tree freely. Sin has now separated us from our God. We were thrown out of the garden and the Lord put cherubim angels around the tree of life to keep the way of the tree of life.
Genesis Chapter 4
Cain and Abel are born and through a spat of jealousy, Cain killed his own brother Abel. He broke God's commandment, that we should not kill. Wait a minute, Moses is not here yet; how do we know the commandments were installed?
9And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
I don't know about you; but if I'm guilty of something but I do not know it was a rule; I do not reply so hostilely. I would have told God I choked him then he fell to the ground and has been sleeping since. The response Cain gave shows us that he was hiding something and did not want God to find out. Cain is then disinherited by the Lord and wonders off in the land of Nod. He eventually finds a wife and starts a family, Cain was evil, a killer, one who could not take instructions nor warnings. We should work hard not to be like him. Cain had two wives, and my question was where did he get wives from if so far we have Adam, Eve, Cain, and Abel?

Genesis 5

1This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
2Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
3And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:
4And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
Adam had Seth as well, and had many sons and daughters. Things are confusing because we thought Adam was to die that same day. People have confusingly said he died spiritually. No, he actually died the same day, however, a day to the Lord is one thousand years. Verse 5 reads that Adam lived a total of 930 years. We'll read about a day with the Lord later. At any rate, this is how Cain received his wives, he got them from among the daughters of Adam. The rest of this chapter takes us on the genealogy from Adam to Noah.
Genesis 6
With Cain's seed spoiling the good seed, the Lord knew that His word would not be long in the hearts of man so he began to lower the number of days man can live and he took it down from those nice 800 and 900 years down to 120. It had gotten so bad that the Lord was angry that He created this man and decided to just flood them all down under water. But the Lord looked down and saw one man doing righteously among all this evil and he decided to save that man and his family. If you make it into the kingdom of God, among man one who we truly have to thank is Noah for doing right in the sight of evil and allowing God to keep the creation going. God prepares Noah to build an ark that he would drown the residence of the earth.
Genesis chapter 7 & 8
Noah gathers the male and female of every animal but does something in addition according to commandment. 1And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
2Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
3Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
He took seven of every clean animal, the male and female, and only two of every unclean animals, the male and female. Clean and unclean animals were established from the creation; not with Moses and the dietary laws. God had them enter the boat and when it was shut it was shut and the Lord flooded the earth killing everything that had breath. After the floods receded, Noah made a sacrifice to the Lord and the Lord in turn made a covenant with Noah and his seed to never destroy the earth with a flood.
Genesis chapter 9
The Lord gives Noah the same commandment He gave Adam, to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth. If Adam was to replenish the earth; that means something was here before Adam. It may not have been man; but there was other creations before man. Scientist have helped prove this fact by finding fossil bones of many types of creatures. Now Noah had three sons, and out of his three sons the earth was repopulated. If you exist today, you come out of one of his three sons, Ham, Japheth, or Shem.

Genesis 10

1Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
The first son mentioned in Japheth and his immediate offspring, the bible mentions something that many people are not well informed by and Martin Luther King Jr. has aided in this confusion. In telling of the lineage of these three sons, one son's offspring are called Gentiles.
5By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
Prior to reading this, I always thought a Gentile is someone that was not a Jew. That is not the case, Gentiles are a people that come from the progenitor Japheth, a son of Noah. We'll find out why this is important when it comes to Jesus and reading of the end times.
6And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. These son's of Noah went into what we call today Africa the continent; however, the real name of the continent was after the son of Noah, who was Ham. Cush is known as Ethiopia, Mizraim is known as Egypt, and Phut is what we call Libya today. These were their names before Africa was conquered by the Romans and Arab nations. But if you view a world map, you will see Africa, Europe, and Asia. These three sons of Noah ventured in these three directions over time, Ham going into what we call Africa, Japheth (Gentiles) went into Europe, and Shem into Asia. This is my belief based on reading the bible and viewing the world. The middle east originally was part of Africa but with countries being conquered, it belongs to who it belongs today.
21Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.
22The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
Shem is the family in which the bible will follow and pay close attention towards, because out of Shem came Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the 12 patriarchs, Moses, Samuel, David, and our Lord God, Jesus the Christ. You'll slowly notice the bible get narrower and narrower following this family of Shem. You'll also notice who fall under Shem's lineage.
Genesis Chapter 11
What caused the sons of Noah and their offspring to split off to different locations on the earth? Well man was united under the leadership and rule of a man named Nimrod, who was a Cushite who wanted to build a tower that would reach heaven. The Lord however met for man to dress the entire earth, so we would have to explore to do this. The Lord then changed the languages of man so that they could not communicate with each other and the slowly separated and went different ways. Verse 10 on gives us the account from Shem to Abram.
Genesis chapter 12
The Lord calls Abram and tell him to leave his country and go to where the Lord will show him. The Lord promised Abram blessings and a great name. 4So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Abram had great faith in the Lord because he rose up and left his entire family to go to a land that he'd be a stranger. That takes great faith in the Lord to do. Abram came to the land of Canaan but a famine in the land took him down to Egypt. Abram had his wife Sarai, who was very beautiful and the Egyptians were all smiles to see her. Abram feared they'd kill him in order to have his wife so he pretended his wife was his sister.
17And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.
18And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou not tell me that she was thy wife?
19Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife: now therefore behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
When Pharaoh was attempting to make Sarai his wife, the Lord put some rough diseases and troubles on Pharaoh and his house so Pharaoh was made known that this woman was married and he called in Abram and confronted him about this. He told him to take his wife and leave the country because he was troubling them. Why? Thou shall not commit adultery. How did the Egyptians know this if Moses is not around yet? The Hammurabi Codes have been taught long before Moses, where did they get them from, the Lord.

Genesis 13

1And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
2And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
Abram was a very wealthy man, comparable to the William Gates and Warren Buffets of today and he and Lot came back to the plains of Canaan. Their servants would argue about territory and about live stock so much that Abram and Lot decided to depart and live against each other and Abram gave Lot the first choice.
10And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
11Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
12Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
Lot thought he made a great decision, and it was because it was a beautiful land but it was filled with wicked people sinning against the Lord wickedly and in great amounts. If sin is here, then there must be commandments and laws for one to sin against. This caused future trouble for Lot.
Genesis 14
Five kings came and sacked the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah and they took the people, including Lot and when Abram heard this he gathered 300 of his men and went after Lot, his nephew. He and his men slaughtered the kings and brought back all the goods, the women, and children also Lot as well. When he returned, many kings came out to greet him and thank him.
18And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
This was a great king and priest, He was priest to the Most High God; He brought out bread and wine, and Abram paid tithes to Him. This is none other than Jesus Christ, but we'll verify this in future readings.
Genesis chapter 15
God prepares Abram by vision that He is going to bless him, and that the Lord is Abram's shield and very great reward. And the Lord gave Abram proof that He was going to bless him and give him physical offspring because Abram was getting up in age. God promises the land of Canaan to Abram's seed. At this point however, Abram does not have any children.
Genesis 16
While waiting on God's promise, Sarai gets desparate and has her handmaid Hagar have a child with Abram, thinking this is the way the Lord was going to do it. This should teach us to be patient with the Lord and let Him do things perfectly and not us with our many imperfections.
3And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife.
However, when Hagar was pregnant, Sarai did not like her anymore and treated her bad and harsh. Here comes the women emotions; and Sarai treated her so bad that Hagar took off. But an angel found her and comforted her and told her to humble herself and return home to Abram and Sarai. The angel also let her know that she is with child.
11And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction.
12And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.
The child and the child's offspring will grow to be a wild man. Ishmael is the father of the 12 Arab nations. And as we have learned of late that they can be a radical and wild group of people. The bible will call it because the Lord God is dictating the story or events. Abram was 86 years of age when he had Ishmael. You see old guys always liked the younger women; I'm only kidding here. We will pick up tomorrow from Genesis 17.
