Bible Food Day 28 - Second Kings

Good morning and welcome once again to the daily bible food where we're reading the bible in 90 days.

I hope you've stretched and are ready to read.

Today we will begin in 

2nd Kings 16

¹In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.

 ²Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.

However, he picked up some of the ways of the kings of Israel like sacrificing his son in fire and burning incense on high places.  He had wars with the kings of Syria and Samaria; but they didn't over come him.

²⁰And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

2 Kings 17

 ¹In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah began Hoshea the son of Elah to reign in Samaria over Israel nine years.

 ²And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, but not as the kings of Israel that were before him.

I just like to put the scripture in that introduces the new king; this will make sense in a few chapters down.  Hoshea takes over from Pekah; and it wasn't handed down to him; he did some over throwing to get the kingdom.  Hoshea would be the last king to reign over Samaria because the Lord had had enough of their sinning; and no king would come in and straighten the people out.

Because Hoshea did send gifts to the king of Assyria; he came in and sieged it for three years before finally taking it completely.  In Hoshea's ninth year, Samaria was taken as slaves into Assyria.  He also placed them in cities in the Medes or what is Russia today.  From this we can hint that Assyria was a power in the world at this time.

They were taken captive, if you remember, because of what was written in Deuteronomy 28.  The blessings and the curses they did not fear their God, nor deal with His statutes, so God cast them out the land.  They did all the abominations that the nations Joshua was sent in to sack, and expected different results.

Those nations became a thorn in their side.  Thus they were carried off.

¹⁸Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

Now the king of Assyria brought in other nations to keep the land of Samaria; but those people were under the control of Assyria.  Those people did not know the God of Israel, neither did they fear Him and the Lord sent in a lions to kill many of them.  So they commanded a priest to come in and teach them the manner of the God of the land.

 ²⁸Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

Still these nations made their own gods and served them; but they feared the God of Israel.  Somewhat like what is done today, many are Christians; but in their mind they have another god they are serving.

³³They feared the LORD, and served their own gods, after the manner of the nations whom they carried away from thence.

 ³⁴Unto this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

So now we have Judah there who are real authentic Israelites of the seed of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham; and we have other nations inhabiting the land of Israel in Samaria.

2 Kings 18

 ¹Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.

 ²Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Abi, the daughter of Zachariah.

 ³And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father did.

Hezekiah was a good king that made small mistakes; but over all he did very well and pleased the Lord like his daddy David did.  He restored and re-instituted a lot of things Israel had fell off from doing.  Plus he witness how Assyria came in and took his brothers out; and he knew it was from the Lord or he would have helped.

He really trusted in the Lord like no king of Judah before him (that does not count Solomon and David because they were kings over the whole Israel, not just Judah); and kept all the commandments that Moses commanded the people to keep from the Lord.

¹³Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.  Hezekiah had to cut gold off the doors of the Temple and off his house to keep the Assyrians from taking them.  So Hezekiah paid the tribute money to keep them from invading Jerusalem.

However, Sennacherib wanted to sack Jerusalem as part of his quest to take over the world.  So paying the tribute was a gimmick to get you to be late or decide not to pay it; then he was have valid reason to come in and sack the nation.  But when Hezekiah kept paying him; he just came in just fullfill his own desire.

³⁰Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

But he did too much big talking against the God of Israel; and God listens in all the time.  And this saved Jerusalem; Hezekiah went to the Lord to the Lord delivered.  This is why it is good to have faith in God because a statement Sennacherib made would have shaken the average faithless king; but not Hezekiah.

³³Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

 ³⁴Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?

Samaria supposedly had the same God as Judah; but if you don't serve God; do you really have the same God?  Plus the Lord sent Assyria into Samaria, Sennacherib went into Jerusalem on his own free will.

2 Kings 19

Here Hezekiah prays to the Lord and humbles himself.  He knows that the Assyrians meant business and one thing the Assyrians were known for was skinning the leaders of the nations alive.  So Hezekiah certainly did not want that.

Isaiah the prophet was sent in to tell their fate.  ²²Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

The Lord was not happy with Sennacherib and spoke against him destruction.  ³²Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.

The same way he came into the city is the same way Sennacherib will leave out of the city.  ³⁵And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

 ³⁶So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

And when Sennacherib got home and went into his the church of his god to inquire about what happened; his own sons came in and killed him.  So much for talking blasphemous against the Lord God of Israel.  The truthful part of this historical event in the bible is that historians share this same stories account in history books, encyclopedias and more and they tell it a bit different.

A plague killed Sennacherib's army according to historians; but we just read that an angel did it from the Lord.

2 Kings 20

After Jerusalem was delivered, time later Hezekiah got very ill; near death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and told him the LORD, said to get your house in order; because this illness will kill you.

 ²Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,

Hezekiah prayed and he put his resume on the table how he walked before God with his whole heart, how he took down evil in Judah, just listed his good qualities of following the Lord. 

And before Isaiah could leave the kings court way; the Lord sent a message to him to tell Hezekiah that he heard his prayer and would add to him 15 more years.

That let's us know the Lord answers prayers and answers them quick.  If you have a good heart and are trying to do well before God; you can petition Him with that, but if you have no resume you may as well pack up like the prophet said.  15 years is better than 30 days or less.

⁶And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.  

The Lord will defend the city of David's sake.  David was a great king.  How good he was to Israel saved Israel from being dumped on in many generations.

Babylon's king sent letters to the king as he recovered (Berodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon) and the sent his son to visit Hezekiah.  Hezekiah showed Babylon all that was in his house, the Temple of the Lord and Isaiah rebuked him for it telling him all that they've seen they will carry out to Babylon in future generations.

Hezekiah was okay with it because in his days there would be peace and truth.

2 Kings 21

 ¹Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hephzibah.

 ²And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, after the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

He was a one son wrecking crew.  He was the exact opposite of this father Hezekiah and he destroyed much.  I'm surprised he reigned so long in Jerusalem.  We'll find out why in a moment. With all his evil acts the Lord is preparing to bring evil so bad that people's ears will tingle.

¹²Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing such evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that whosoever heareth of it, both his ears shall tingle.

The Lord will "wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it, and turning it upside down."  This does not sound good (for the people).  

¹⁶Moreover Manasseh shed innocent blood very much, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another; beside his sin wherewith he made Judah to sin, in doing that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.

¹⁸And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his own house, in the garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

 ¹⁹Amon was twenty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Meshullemeth, the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.

 ²⁰And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his father Manasseh did.

Amon was wicked and his own workers conspired against him and killed him in his own home.  Then the people killed those of his workers who conspired against him and reestablished his son Josiah king over Judah.

2 Kings 22

 ¹Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty and one years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jedidah, the daughter of Adaiah of Boscath.

 ²And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.

Josiah was a good king doing right in the eyes of the Lord; walking in the way of David; not veering to the right nor left of the commandments but keeping straight. 

During his reign he wanted to reestablish the real Levite priesthood.  And Hilkiah the high priest found the book of the law in the house of the LORD and he gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.  All these years; the people were going off of tradition, word of mouth from Moses; and not the actual words in the book.

If it was lost then what were the people doing all those years?  And they read it to the king and he tore his cloths and humbled himself.  They were all going crazy because of what is written in Deuteronomy 28.

So they began to attempt to get their house in order so they are not carried away captive as it says in the writings of Moses.

Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asahiah, went to Huldah the prophetess, she was wife to Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college;) and they talked with her regarding the wrath the Lord was going to bring on Jerusalem.

 ¹⁶Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah hath read:

Destruction was coming for sure to Jerusalem according to the woman prophet; but because the heart of the king was humbled before the LORD, when he read the book; Josiah will die in peace and his generation will not see the evil that the Lord is going to bring on Jerusalem.

2 Kings 23

Josiah gathered all the people and read the book of the law to them; probably explained to them why Samaria was taken out of the land and made a covenant with God to keep the Lord's commandments.

He also did some cleaning up in the land; ⁷And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove.

And the king, Josiah, commanded all the people, to keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.  He did some big time cleaning up to make sure he wasn't taken out of Jerusalem.

In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt, he went up to war against Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against Egypt; and he was killed at Megiddo, by the king of Egypt.

And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's stead.   ³¹Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

 ³²And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done. 

And Pharaohnechoh, Pharaoh of Egypt, made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and changed his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.  Because of the evil in Jerusalem from wicked leaders, all of the sudden Jerusalem is being taken on every side.

³⁶Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
 ³⁷And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

2 Kings 24

Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took over and came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him. Jehoiakim died: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

 Now Egypt stop their tax tribute regime over Judah because Babylon had rose in power and taken over from the river of Egypt unto the river Euphrates all that pertained to the king of Egypt.  So a new bully was in town.

 ⁸Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem three months. And his mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
 ⁹And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father had done.

Nebuchadnezzar carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest of the people of the land.

The king then made Mattaniah king of the remaining people and changed his name to Zedekiah.  Zedekiah was only 21 and ruled for 11 years in Jerusalem and he did nothing but evil in the site of the Lord.

2 Kings 25

Nine years into Zedekiah's reign, he rebelled and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came pitched in Jerusalem and in the 11th year he tore it down.  Nebuchadnezzar was not pleased with Zedekiah at all.

 ⁶So they took the king, and brought him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah; and they gave judgment upon him.
 ⁷And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him with fetters of brass, and carried him to Babylon.
²¹And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.

Uprising and revolts, jealousy, abuse of power is the best way to describe Judah and Israel and it is ultimately what got each nation thrown out of the land.  

This started because they did not destroy all the inhabitants of the land in Joshua's day; and when they asked for a king to be like the other nations, removing Jesus the God of Israel from being their king, this brought in jealous revolts instead of peace, knowledge and wisdom of the Lord.

Bible Food Day 16 - The Book of Joshua

Good morning,

Today we are passing into the Book of Joshua; and Joshua is in charge and the Lord is setting him up to be the leader.  The Lord tells him to be strong and courageous and not to move from the law of the covenant at all.

In Joshua chapter two, Joshua sends two men out to spy the land; and Rahab the harlot allowed them to hide in her place.  She heard about the children of Israel and said their people were scared of them.  They heard about what God did in Egypt so she was well aware, and she made the two men promise they will deal kindly with her and her family when Israel comes in and take the land.  And that is how she saved her household, by her faith that the God of Heaven was the God of the children of Israel.

In chapter three the Lord is ready to perform a big sight to make the people know and believe that He is with Joshua: ⁷And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.

They are ready to cross the Jordan by the priest standing in the Jordan and the Jordan will dry up and when the priest held the ark of the covenant in the water, it dried and they went over dry shod.

In chapter 4; when the priest came out of the Jordan at the command of Joshua, the water went back and over flowed it's banks and the children of Israel feared Joshua as they did Moses and they took up the stones as a memorial, 12 of them, to tell their children about what the Lord has done in the Jordan.

In Joshua chapter 5; the people heard of what the Lord did for Israel; their heart melted and were sorely afraid of Israel.  And Joshua commanded that all the males be circumcised in the flesh.  Many of Israel did not circumcise themselves when they came out of Egypt because their parents didn't do it. So Joshua took off the reproach of Egypt off of Israel by circumcising the males.  They also held the passover on the 14th day.  

And the captain of the Lord's Host, the angel Michael, approached Joshua and he appeared to Joshua as a man; because until he announced himself Joshua approached him to see if he was coming in peace or in trouble.  He came in peace to give instruction and Joshua fell upon his face.  This lets us know angels can appear to us as men and we can't tell they are angels unless the let us know they are.

In chapter 6 Joshua is getting the instructions on how they will take the city.  ⁶And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.

 ⁸And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

 ⁹And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.
They were to march around the city one time each day for six days, seven priest with seven trumpets blowing the trumpets.  The trumpets announces the coming of a King and the announcing of a war.  Remember the ark of the covenant went after the priest with the trumpets and that ark of the covenant represents God Himself.
On the 7th day, they circled the city 7 times and on the last circle the people shouted and the wall fell down flat and they went in straight and took the city.
Yet they kept the house of Rahab and her family and burnt the city with fire; only taking the gold of the city, the city of Jericho.  Joshua fame went out through the whole country.
The children of Israel were not suppose to take any spoil especially any idol or cursed thing; but one man did (Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing:).  And the people of Ai smote some of the children of Israel; and Joshua inquired with the Lord why this was thus.  And the Lord removed Himself from Israel until the accursed thing was removed.
And whoever had the accursed thing would be burnt with fire because of his trespass along with all his belongings.  ²⁰And Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:
²⁴And Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.
 ²⁵And Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the LORD shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.
The Lord's judgment was harsh; but because of Achan's greed and disobedience, people were killed for his senseless actions; and the Lord is very serious and harsh on people to follow instructions.
Now in chapter 8; Israel reattempts to take the city of Ai; and do it with a strategy to ambush the city of Ai.  And they set them up greatly, for Joshua was a great general and they took the city and burned it; and hanged the king of Ai.
After they took Ai; Joshua read all the book of the law to the people that Moses wrote.  This reading of the law was very important.
In Joshua chapter 9 all the neighboring countries decided to gather together to fight against Israel as one.  And some of the people in the coast, the Hivites faked as if they came from a long journey and were not part of the nations Israel was to destroy.  They did this in order to make a league with the people of Israel.  
One thing they understood is God kept covenants and agreements that people made with Him and with each other.  Joshua and the elders took no counsel with God and made a league and thus could not kill them; but they remained servants to Israel.
Now when the king of Jerusalem (Canaanite people) saw that the Hivites ( of Gibeon) had made a league withe Israel he wanted to kill Gibeon for making the league with Israel; but Israel had to protect Gibeonites as they would protect themselves.  But the Lord gave the people of the lands into the hands of Israel and even rain hell stones on the people who the Israelites didn't get with the sword.
¹¹And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
 ¹²Then spake Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
 ¹³And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
 ¹⁴And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.
Joshua was so insistent on killing these people they he commanded the sun to stay still until he finished; and the Lord listened to him and let it be.  This also was a great wonder in Israel.  In Joshua chapter 11; we see the taking down of more cities and the burning of Hazor and took spoil of other cities killing all the people and the kings.  ²³So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
Chapter 12.  This chapter tells us all the lands and nations the children of Israel smote and took for a possession on each side of the Jordan that was divided among the children of Israel.  There were a lot of nations, 31 nations total.
Joshua 13 reads that there was still much more land for the Israelites to possess that they haven't yet.  And Joshua was getting old and it still needed to be done.  And they did more still some of the people to be destroyed and land to be taken still remained with Israel even until this day.  And the inheritance of each tribe is mentioned and given in this chapter.
In chapter 14, we see Caleb get his plot of land from the order of Moses and Joshua blessed him.  Caleb received the land of Hebron even until this day.  And the land rested from war.
This is our reading today.  Tomorrow we will finish Joshua and read 3 chapters in Judges.  I know there was a lot of killing; I should have put the rated "R" if you read with your kids.  One thing people rarely know is that the customs of the people that the Lord sent the children of Israel to take down; are the customs that many keep even today.  It is important to find out about those customs and refrain from them even if they are great family traditions.

Day 15 of Daily Bible Food

Good morning; today we are reading from Deuteronomy 24 up to 34, the end of Deuteronomy.  Today's reading begins with a man divorcing his wife.  

Even though this was written by Moses, Jesus came in the flesh and reversed this saying a man cannot divorce his wife because they were made one in the beginning; thus they remain together.  

Moses put this in because of the hardness of the men's heart and they were abusing their wives; so it was the lessor of the evils to command a divorce.

Deuteronomy 25 mainly talks about if a brother passes and one had no child that the brother that live

s shall give seed unto the wife of the brother that passed; to keep his name alive in the land of Israel.  Chapter 26 reminds Israel to remember to give the first and best fruits unto the Lord our God because Israel's father who was a Syrian (Abraham) went into Egypt and came out a populated people into a land flowing of milk and honey.  Thus shall we do the commandments with all our heart and soul.  Israel are a peculiar people and holy unto God forever.

If any man do any of these abominations in chapter 27, he shall b

e cursed and all the people shall say amen.  ²¹Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.

²⁶Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Deuteronomy 28 gives the curses and blessing in detail and it will identify who the children of Israel are today.  If the children of Israel keep the commandments of God, they shall be blessed in the city and in the country, they will have healthy beautiful babies, the Lord will cause their enemies to be smitten, the Lord will bless their businesses, and establish them as a holy people.

All people will see they are called by the name of the LORD (Israel) and want to do as the children of Israel do to attain the blessings they receive; they shall lend to many nations and not borrow; and they shall be the head and not the tail; all this if they keep the commandments of the Lord.  But if they do not keep the commandments, cursed they shall be in the city and in the country, the fruit of their body, land, and cattle shall be cursed.

All they set their hand to do shall be cursed.  They shall get diseases and sickness until they perish.  Their enemies shall smite them and REMOVE them into all nations in the earth.  The Lord will smite them with blindness, and no prosperity, they will not receive help from any man nor nation.  

They will have a wife; but others will sleep with them.  Their kids will go into slavery and they will have no might to do anything about it.  They will build up lands for other nations and not get anything for it.  The will be taken captive into other nations and in these nations they will serve other gods, wood and stone.

The stranger with thee will come up very high and Israel very low until they are destroyed because they simply didn't keep the commandments.   ⁴⁶And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever.
 ⁴⁷Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
 ⁴⁸Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
Husband and wife will be evil towards each other, and even unto her children (domestic violence high in who ever these people are today, and child neglect and abuse is highest in this group of people as well).  
The Lord will bring all the diseases and evilness that He brought into Egypt.  All this for not obeying the voice of the Lord.  Israel will find no ease in the nations they are brought in and they will doubt and their life will hang in doubt also.

The Lord will bring them into Egypt again in ships and be sold into slavery as male and females again and no man shall buy them out of this slavery or captivity. 
 Egypt meant slavery to the children of Israel, not a literal return into Egypt.  So in reading this chapter all we must do is find out which one Israel fell under, the blessings or the curses, and we can easily see who Israel is today.
In Deuteronomy chapter 29; it tells other nations why the land will be as it is and the people rooted out.  It is because they did not keep the covenant the Lord set before Israel when He took them out of Egypt.
In chapter 30; after all the curses have happened (I guess the Lord predicted they will transgress against Him); and they are in the countries where He scattered them and they seek the Lord, then He will RETURN, and gather them from all the countries they are captive in.
³That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
Israel was reminded that the Word is very near to them; and Moses set before the children of Israel life and death, good and evil that they should choose life and live.  ¹⁹I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
In chapter 31, Moses gets ready to pass the torch to Joshua to take the people into the land and gives more admonition to fear God and keep His laws and commandments.  
¹⁵And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.
 ¹⁶And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.
 ¹⁷Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?
 ¹⁸And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.
 ¹⁹Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.
I had to place these scriptures in here that you may know that God knew the children of Israel will rebel against Him and He would have to chastise them.  And He gave them a song that will testify against them; and Moses wrote the song and gave it to Israel.
²⁶Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.
 ²⁷For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?
Moses knew that they would be evil after he died because they were so rebellious while he was yet alive.
In chapter 32 the song God had Moses give to Israel; it is a detailed song of what God is and how He operates; it is a great song about the Lord.  Moses was told to go up into the Mt Abarim in the land of Moab and view the land; in that mount; and there he will die.  
Moses was king over Israel (unofficial king), and high priest, he was the prototype of Jesus unto this people as Jesus will be to this people Israel, and to the world.  Thus making Jesus the prophet like unto Moses...
In chapter 34; the Lord shows the land to Moses: ⁵So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.
 ⁶And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.
 ⁷And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.
 ⁸And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.
No prophet has rose in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord dealt with face to face.  Moses was indeed a great prophet unto the Lord.  So great that the Lord buried Moses Himself.  He didn't want anyone to deal with his body.  
Thus our reading of the first five books are completed (in 15 days) and really we've read the bible because Moses covered everything we need; but the rest of the bible gives details and testimonials that Moses was indeed true and a true man of God in his dealings.
