Bible Food Daily Reading on Day 58

Good morning Vietnam; all all nations that come across this reading today.

We are going to begin this todays reading in Jeremiah 48.

Jeremiah 48

We see prophesy against Moab. They, like Edom, helped Judah get become cut off from being a nation. They wanted Judah ousted from the land. It is never good to cheer at someone else's demise. Moab will be destroyed - ⁴²And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD. How do you magnify yourself against the Lord? You disobey what He commands.

They will go into captivity; but will also be brought back again in the latter days.

Jeremiah 49

¹Concerning the Ammonites, thus saith the LORD; Hath Israel no sons? hath he no heir? why then doth their king inherit Gad, and his people dwell in his cities? Here we are going to have prophesy against the children of Ammon (who are the brothers of Moab).


They will have some calamity and suffer captivity then the Lord will restore them as He will do Moab. The Lord will get each country back for their deeds and behavior to the children of Israel. This is why it is best to treat everyone well and equal and as you would want to be treated.


Now we move on to verses 7 through 15 and the Lord is speaking against Edom. They are the twin brothers to the children of Jacob and treated the children of Israel horribly all because of the birthright.


¹⁴I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.
¹⁵For, lo, I will make thee small among the heathen, and despised among men.


The Edomites always have problems with different nations governments and are despised by men. Why? Mainly because they get themselves involved with every nations finances. They are relatively small, but they are definitely despised.


When the Lord takes these people down, the entire earth is going to know about it (verse 21).


²³Concerning Damascus. Hamath is confounded, and Arpad: for they have heard evil tidings: they are fainthearted; there is sorrow on the sea; it cannot be quiet.
²⁸Concerning Kedar, and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite, thus saith the LORD; Arise ye, go up to Kedar, and spoil the men of the east.
³⁵Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
³⁶And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.


The Lord is just going down the list of nations and people He is going to put a calamity on, some in Nebuchadnezzar's day and some when He returns.

Jeremiah 50

¹The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.
⁴In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God.


Here it is speaking against Babylon, but not just the Babylon of old, but the entire Babylon also known as Babylon the great. And this is during the time period of the return of the Lord because in verse four it gives us the time that the children of Israel will be returning to their land, weeping seeking God; who will be on the earth.


The children of Israel, at that time, will be asking how to get to Jerusalem and see their God; because they have forgotten their home because of their shepherds (pastors), they have gone from government to government, and religion to religion. All nations that saw them took great advantage of them and did not feel any guilt about doing so. The Lord tells the children of Israel and all inhabitants of the earth to get out of Babylon because when He comes He will take it down with everyone still on board.


The Lord is going to send great nations from the north country (countries north of Europe) and make Babylon desolate, so bad that people will be really astonished at the end result. sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve.


It will be during the great tribulation that things will be so bad that everyone is going to leave and return to the land in which they were born. They will go back to their own people because at that point that is all they will trust.


The Lord is bringing this to get everyone's attention, and the nations because of what people have done against Israel, scattered them and broken their bones. The Lord at that time will forgive Israel's sins and pardon them because He has given them double for their sins.


How is the Lord going to take down Babylon? ⁴¹Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. With a great nation that are allied with many kings.

Jeremiah 51

¹Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;
²And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about. We are still reading on the destruction of Babylon in the end time. This has nothing to do with Nebuchadnezzar, but it has much to do with his children throughout the generations.


⁶Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence. The Lord tells Israel to certainly get out of the middle of Babylon and other nations too; because they are going to get a whipping like no one ever believes they can get. We know it's serious when the Lord warns you to get out of the way.


¹¹Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple. Now we know the great nation that will come against Babylon; it is the kings of the Medes. The Medo-Persian reign consisted of a cluster of tribes but two being of great strength. The Persians are thought to be the Iranians and the Medes are the Russians. I can only think of Russia when you speak of a great nation to the north that are fierce warriors.


²³I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.
²⁴And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD. The Lord is going to break into pieces a lot of people, one in particular are the ministers of the world who are dealing falsely and their flock. And Babylon because of all their evil they have done, which is a lot by deception. So we found out who will take down Babylon, we have to find out who Babylon is.


⁶⁰So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.
This is the book we are reading and other prophets in different time period wrote about the same thing; the fall of Babylon.

Jeremiah 52

¹Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
²And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. We already know this because the Lord threw him out and afflicted him greatly because of his evil.


In Zedekiah's 11th year of reigning the city was taken by Babylon and Nebuchadnezzar. They captured Zedekiah, and gave judgment on him, killing his sons, and putting his eyes out. Then they burned the temple of God and the kings palace.


This last chapter in Jeremiah just recaps the final taking out of the children of Judah out of their land as written by Moses and warned of by every prophet. This is recorded history that the Lord performs on what He speaks!
We are going to go right into Lamentations and continue reading.

Lamentations 1

¹How doth the city sit solitary, that was full of people! how is she become as a widow! she that was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how is she become tributary!
By not keeping the commandments of their God. A God who came down on the mountain and spoke to a people face to face and did not kill anyone in doing so. That is how!
Jeremiah is lamenting on the fall of Jerusalem, once a great nation now nothing is there.


¹⁸The LORD is righteous; for I have rebelled against his commandment: hear, I pray you, all people, and behold my sorrow: my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.
¹⁹I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and mine elders gave up the ghost in the city, while they sought their meat to relieve their souls.


The Lord is right in what He is doing because the children of Israel have rebelled against His commandments and all people still do to this day; look at Israel's results! Ours today will be no different, just affliction on every side when you break God's law.


Now Israel is calling for his lovers, his other gods, other nations, but no one is standing up for Israel then or today. All they had, and all we have in this earth is our God!


This finishes today's reading. We had really long chapters today thus we only had a few. We will pick it up on day 59 tomorrow and then we are down to the final 30 day stretch. The Lord is good, all the time! Grace, peace and understanding be upon all of us in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Bible Food Day 13

Good morning to the is the 7th day of the week and I bid you a happy Sabbath.

Here we get the journeys of the children of Israel when they came out of Egypt the day after the passover (Numbers 33).  They removed and pitch in a lot of places, particularly because of their evil report that they couldn't defeat the people in the land.  Aaron died in the 40th year they were removed from Egypt, dying at 123 years of age.

The Lord told Moses to tell the people to destroy the people and everything they own as far as pictures, idols, etc, and divide the land.  But if they don't destroy the people, they will be thorns in their sides and the Lord will do to them as He thought to do to the people of Canaan.  I guess if you keep things around you must have liked it a bit; eventually you will take ownership of it.  God knows His creation well.

Numbers 34 starts with Moses giving commandments of the borders of the land they are taking at the command of the Lord.  Also the people should not forget to give the children of Levi cities and suburbs to deal with a total of 48 cities for the Levities.  The Lord even set up a jail system; appointing cities of refuge if a man slays or kills someone on accident can go there to live because the family will attempt to kill that person.  They had to stay there until the death of the current high priest.

In chapter 36 Moses answered the questions the people had regarding the daughters who wanted their inheritance since their father had no sons.  Their tribe men were concerned that if the women went and married another tribe that the tribe's groom will seize their inheritance.  So Moses commanded from the Lord that in this case the daughters should marry within the tribe so that it stays in the tribe of their father for ever.

We move into Deuteronomy now.

Moses addresses the people and gives recaps of what he has been teaching from the Lord since they left Egypt.  It is the 40th year since they left Egypt; and Moses is telling of the downfall that caused them to wander in the wilderness for 40 years.  Because of murmuring they were not able to go directly into the land; but wandered in the wilderness a year for every day they murmured.

As they went through Mt. Seir; the Lord let Israel know He has not given them the land belonging to Esau; but to simply pass through and pay for everything you receive from them.  The same instructions for the children of Moab, not to take their land, because the Lord gives every people their own land and inheritance and it is theirs. No one should take it.

The children of Israel, at the Lord's command, destroyed a lot of people, Bashan, Amorites, killing the men, women, and children.  In Deuteronomy chapter 3 Moses asked one more time if he can go into the land but the Lord denied him and commanded he ask not again concerning that matter.  That's like a kid who keeps bugging a parent about going to an amusement park and the parent says "no, and don't ask again."

In chapter 4 we hear that the Lord commands not to add to His words, nor subtract from His Words, but to keep it as is.  The Lord also commands the children of Israel keep the laws, commandments, and statues of the Lord because this is their wisdom in the eyes of the Lord.  So if the children of Israel do not keep the laws of the Lord; they have no wisdom in the eyes of the other nations.  Moses gives the recount of when the Lord visited the entire nation on Mt. Sinai in which the people feared greatly.

Moses keeps reminding the people that the Lord was angry with him for the people's sake; and Moses tells to keep the commandments because the Lord is a consuming fire and full of jealousy.  Moses prophesies that when the children corrupt themselves by not to keeping the commandments; the Lord will scatter them into all nations where they will serve other gods; but if you seek God, even during the tribulation in the latter days.  Yes, Moses knew about the scattering of Israel and the great tribulation and the return of Israel.

The Lord God gave a lot of vision and understanding to Moses; this was truly a great prophet.   ⁴⁰Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.

Prolong your days on the earth, which the Lord God gives you forever... no heaven!?  Moses even knew the kingdom of God will be on the earth.

Deuteronomy chapter 5 is about the covenant God made with the people.  This is an agreement; and God did not make this covenant with their fathers; but with the sons of Jacob.  The covenant is the Royal Law, the Ten Commandments we already read and outlined in Exodus 20.

We also see why God does not appear in fire to people today or do any appearing; it is because Israel asked God to talk to them through a mediator and not directly because they feared they would die.  Also because we are filthy with sins.

Chapter 6 tells that the Lord our God is One; that means even today we are not to serve Him in 2 different ways; and the children of Israel are to teach about the Lord to their children and to the strangers and love your brother as you love yourself and also ⁵And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.  You are to teach your children all of this that the Lord has done so they know why you serve the Lord.

Chapter 7 tells of the instructions of destroying the 7 nations of the Canaanites.  To destroy them utterly, and not to take their children as wives, because they will corrupt you.  A weak person will succumb to a wife or husband ways.  Moses reminds the people that God did not choose Israel because they were some great people; but rather to keep the covenant God made with Abraham.  If Israel keeps the covenant with God; He will keep the covenant with them.

This chapter ends with the Lord warning the people to keep His commandments and to not be as the people of the land; and the children of Israel shall live well if they do all that the Lord commanded Moses to do.  That ends day thirteen; see you tomorrow as we go further in Deuteronomy.   Praise God.

We Are On Day Twelve in Numbers

We begin reading in Numbers chapter 22 and we will read to Numbers 32.  It is the story of Moab, their king Balak, and Balaam a priest or prophet for Moab (yes God spoke individually to other men other than Israel).  Balak was troubled by the fame of Israel and thought Israel was coming to knock them off their land and called Balaam to curse Israel.  And Balaam was told not to go by the Lord; but he went any way, and God was angry.

As Balaam was riding his donkey, an angel of the Lord stood by to kill both Balaam and the donkey; but the donkey kept avoiding the angel until it made Balaam angry and he hit his donkey.  God allowed the donkey to speak to Balaam, then opened his eyes and Balaam saw the angel and fell down scared.  And God told him to continue his journey but only to speak what the Lord has him speak.  That had to be the most bizarre thing for Balaam to see in his life.  A donkey talking, then an angel tell you if it wasn't for the donkey you'd be dead.  Haha!

Balaam proceeded to attempt to curse Israel but God only gave blessings.  Balak tried to do it again; but a blessing came out again and this is what God gave him to say:

¹⁹God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
 ²⁰Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.
In chapter 25, the Lord gave a parable to Balaam even showing the vision of the last days and when Balak heard the vision he went his way and Balaam went his because they saw Israel on top, even spiritual Israel.  However, in chapter 26 the children of Israel started to whore after the Moabites serving their gods and God was very angry with Israel and sent a plague that killed up to 24,000.  Moab got them by the men whoring after their women and being seduced into their gods.  
Then Phinehas a priest was very zealous and killed a man who whore after a Midianite woman and the Lord stopped the plague.  This gave Phinehas a covenant for his sons, a covenant of "an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel."
Numbers chapter 26 just gives the number of men who were listed in the army of all the 12 tribes of Israel.  Then the daughters of Zelophehad came to ask why the inheritance of their father could not be passed to them because he had no sons?  And God set up a standard in which men follow today, when man dies his inheritance goes to his kids, that is son or daughter, if he has no kids it goes to his brothers or sisters and so on.
In chapter 28, we get a reminder of the ordinance of the burnt offerings, the passover, and high Holy Sabbath days.  In chapter 29 we get the ordinance of the day of Atonement and other High Days in the 7th month.  These are outside of the daily continual burnt offerings.  Of course we do not offer the animals today; but are to continue to observe these days as they have significant meaning when it comes to the Lord Jesus and His plan and return.
Numbers chapter 30 talks about vows and vowing to the Lord.  If you make a vow to the Lord, you shall by all means keep the vow, all of it that comes out of your mouth.  If a woman vows and either her husband (if she's married) or father (if she is not married) knows about it; if he disagree with it, he can void it; but if he allows it; they must both perform the vow.  This is why Adam had the ability to reverse what Eve's mistake was in speaking to the the serpent.
In Numbers 31, the Lord tells Moses to prepare for war against the Midianites to avenge Israel and afterwards, Moses will die.  Isn't that something, knowing after this war you will go rest your soul.  Israel took the Midianites down and took a lot of spoil, which they argued over, and they even kept a lot of women and children alive to keep for themselves.  Men will be men huh, but this made Moses very angry and he ordered them to kill any woman who was married or had known a man.  
In chapter 32, the children of Reuben and Gad asked to keep a land on the east side of Jordan, but they will go to war over the Jordan to help their brothers inherit their land before the fully settle.  So the Reubenites, Gadites, and half of the tribe of Mannessah stayed on the east side of Jordan in the land the Amorites had for possession.
One thing I've noticed is that the children of Israel were hard headed people and when you have a bad child the parent looks even stricter than He is; but it is out of love to keep the child good.  But if you have an obedient child, the parent appears more loving, nice, and caring but it is because the child obeys so there is no need to be harsh and strict.  This is for people that believe the God of the Old Testament was a mean God.  It is because He had real disobedient children.
